The majority of people have never left a small radius from their hometown aside from maybe college. I find this is more true of LA natives than many others, but it’s like they’re scared to try new things, meet new people, gain new knowledge, and actually expand the mind. It’s baffling to me.

Before the negativity spews, this is not true of every single person from Louisiana. But a very large portion. Look me in the eye and tell me you don’t have family or friends who fit the bill.

I know a TINY fraction of people who fit this bill.

So no, I disagree with:

I don’t care what other people do with their own money and time. That being said, I agree. I love to eat new foods and see new places. Austin has so much to do. I love visiting.

I've been to Austin many times over the last 25 years and those are all OK, not great, things to do. They aren't missing much. Austin is overrated when it comes to visiting.

Is this a joke? I know more people who have left the country for trips than didn’t. This is an absurd take. The only people I know like this are older people who can’t afford to travel.

I don't have a single family member or friend that fits this bill.

My friends and I are all in our 30's and married, we don't get to hangout for extended periods of time together even though we live within about 30 miles from each other (outside of our friend coming meet us from Manhattan). When we get together for a guys trip (usually about once a year) we just like to hangout and drink at bars, but we definitely don't search out cajun food in random cities. And this is not our "vacation".

Do you mean to live somewhere else, or just left on vacation or something? Everyone that I know has at least left the state for vacation, several times.

Why do you care what other people do on their vacations?

You sound like a liberal cuck. No wonder you moved to Austin.

Me and the baws will be drinking beers and eating gumbo at shiner saloon if you feel like not being such a gigantic pussy

If you go to Texas, especially central Texas, looking for Cajun food, you are a dumbshit. If you visit Rome, do you look for it there also?

The best cajun food I've ever eaten always comes out of a cajun's outdoor kitchen. Usually cooked while consuming copious amounts of beer or old charter (if really old school). It is also hard to find restaurants that are willing to put in the time, effort, and ingredients to make a proper cajun meal.

where do Louisiana people gather?

If you want to be overwhelmed with Louisiana people while on vacation, go skiing during Mardi Gras or FL Panhandle during Spring Break.

Just checking, but what back home (assuming anywhere in LA) is better than "OK" of any of those listed activities to do in the Austin area?

I can lounge around at home without the need to spend the money on going somewhere. I don’t find that it relieves stress or gives me a sense of real enjoyment as much as experiencing new things does. It builds memories and lets you know you’re not a machine, but a human being. The phone not ringing is relaxing enough though.

I doubt that. If true, you certainly don't know very many people

Nobody. OP is just a gigantic tool and wanted to show off that he knew of a couple of landmarks around Austin.

My sister in law (no pics) and her husband go to the same all inclusive resort every year in Mexico and never leave. Same food, same drinks, same shite....all day every year.

Both of them are not in shape at all, they just like going down there to eat and drink like wild animals for a week.

I’ve always wondered why they don’t just do that here.
