I feel like this has become a daily thread. If LSU had a larger budget I doubt anything would improve substantially. They would find a way to waste it on something stupid like hiring more diversity directors at ridiculously bloated salaries.

Meant to pose this question the last time I drove through Monroe.

Drove through Monroe on interstate, decided to make judgments from what you see from there.

Yep, no reason to have a university in the population center of NELA.

Why in the hell would someone want to cut Southern and/or Grambling? Hmmm, how about the insanely mismanaged finances. Or the graduation rates that are abysmally low.

Questions why University exists, uses bad grammar to do so.

Yep, that's why universities exist. To educate dumbasses.

State's least densely populated and most economically depressed corner?

Lol... aside from Monroe being the HQ for 1 of the 2 fortune 500 companies located in Louisiana...

Ruston has the 3rd highest per capita income in the state behind Oak Hills Place (aka St. George) and the sprawling metropolis of Mound, Louisiana.

Ouachita Parish (home of ULM) is in the top 1/3 of the state re: per capita income.

Talk to me again about how economically depressed that corner is in relation to the rest of the State.

I'm not discrediting your conclusion, simply your premise because it is unequivocally wrong based on statistical evidence.

Both La tech and ULM have aviation programs. Why is that necessary? such a waste of tax payer money.

Tech's aviation program pretty much funds itself with insanely high flight fees most of which is paid by students taking out loans or (more common) rich parents.

The School of Construction was the first accredited school of construction in the nation in 1966. It still remains the best school for construction management in the state, and ranks top 10 nationally. I am a proud alumni of that school and would not be where I am today without it.

While I do agree that there are a lot of wasted things going on at ULM, construction management, pharmacy, and Nursing are not part of that equation whatsoever.

If we are talking about getting rid of schools in the state, I wouldn't have ULM at the top of my list to get rid of.

John DeLorean was involved with a company called The Louisiana Motor Company Inc. Initially he was said to be a consultant involved in nogotiating with Govenor Edwin Edwards and officials from the city of Monroe about building an assembly plant there. By late June of '87 the German publication DIE WELT was saying that John was planning a venture in West Germany to produce the Isdera in Louisiana. None of it ever amounted to anything but the one Isdera built was pretty nice to look at. It was to sell for about $140,000 with an annual production of 75 to 100 cars.

Oh really?? They sure do like to talk about how it's one of the best in the country. Do you think its the caliber of students that come out of ULM or the CM program that is lacking?
