Louisiana's largest company, Centurylink, just doubled in size to $60 billion and is based in Monroe. CTL is very supportive of ulm's tech and business programs, and employs many graduates. They kindly tell you to GFY.

Hey have not doubled in size and their stock is down 20% for the year. They agreed to buy Level 3 Communications and will take on a large debt to do so-provided it can pass all regulatory requirements. It is not a done deal and if it does go through it will be a year before it closes.

AND there is a very large chance they will move to Denver and have a smaller presence in Monroe.

They do need to drop back to FCS and play in the southland again

While they're at it go ahead and bring back Rosevelt Potts and Vincent Brisby

Monroe (funroe) used to have the best clubs in the state!

This^
Monroe was a great little college town once upon a time. Nowadays, Revenue Generation Checkpoints, cleverly disguised as a way to get impaired drivers off the road, have pretty much rendered the club scene in Monroe a memory.

I am a graduate from ULM, and although I don't think it should be closed, it is shite, and everything about it is exaggerated. "Top ranked pharm program" bullshite ( LINK #81, 2.2/5). "Top ranked nursing school" Bullshite ( LINK unranked).

The pharm students are (mostly) people that are natives and dont want to leave/cant get in top tier/went to ulm and cant get in anywhere else. The nursing school boasts these incredible stats, while adding an extra semester to a typical program. This costs the student another 10k, and 5 months before finishing. Stupid. I was friends with plenty of the girls, and the girl I dated in college, and if that nursing school is as stressful as they say it is, frick that. Either that, or I'd hate to be around them if they were in a "real" professional school. They do boast a great "online nursing school" and "budget nursing school", who cares. Thats marketing shite and spin.

As far as construction management, also spin. Its not a great program. You can make a lot of money going to work in the field straight out of college. Three guys I know who did that: Safety guy, off-site estimator, and one guy, who knew someone, that is a commercial assistant super. Sure, they make decent money, minus the estimator, but companies arent flocking to these guys like legitimate construction engineers.

Not with the current CEO, who is a La Tech grad and is very invested in their tech and business programs. After Blackie steps down I could definitely see the HQ moving to Denver or Seattle, but not with the current board and CEO.

Frick that, he hits way too hard. Believe me, I know. However, on second thought, maybe we should check to see if he has eligibility left as bad as they suck.

Got my Undergrad from there and sometimes I smile knowing that I have 3 or 4 Corndog grads at any one time that report to me.

My argument for the cluster of colleges up there has always been that ULM, Tech, and LSUS all have good programs, but... How much better would it be if they were combined?

ULM pharmacy and nursing combined with LSUS med and Tech biomedical and nursing.

ULM CM combined with Tech architecture and CE.

ULM and Tech aviation combined.

Long-term taxpayer savings, higher enrollment to possibly invest some money in those athletic programs, and what could possibly push academics for the combined college to a top 100 tier 1 university. This is La though so that just makes too much damn sense.

Might as well throw in LSU-E, LSU-A, SUNO, and SU-S into the mix as well for shutting down.

Yea... This... Of all the shite stains you could have picked, you actually go after a fairly decent university?
