So members of House and Senate delegation from NELA can have a place to get their friends and family jobs.

ULM grad here -
$200K annual salary.
Manage 55 staff, the majority have advanced degrees.
FY 16 profit made by my division was just over $500K
Define "not setting the world on fire"

This doesn't justify having 3 university's in the area.

Besides, if you haven't ever met a ULM student, they're not exactly setting the world on fire.
Louisiana's largest company, Centurylink, just doubled in size to $60 billion and is based in Monroe. CTL is very supportive of ulm's tech and business programs, and employs many graduates. They kindly tell you to GFY.

Just answer the question. Defend your position that ULM grads "aren't settingvthe world on fire". That was one of your reasons for abolishing the University.

I will admit that the 80's time frame was probably wrong. Honestly I probably got confused since a family member mentioned getting a BS in pharmacy during that period.
As of the past 3 decades at least, you need a PharmD to be considered a legal Pharmacist. I only inquired since (as you stated) the BS pharmacy has become vestigial at this point.

You sir are deplorable. I have a degree from there and very successful. My friend who I eat lunch with everyday is a cpa lawyer has a degree from there. So without facts backing up what you say shut your pie hole.

Sorry. I never said that. I do think it's a silly argument to keep a university open because you have had a relatively successful career.
I know a guy worth $30 million who dropped out of high school. Let's close all colleges.

You don't seem like a person with a college degree. Who are you to say that the 9,500 students at ULM shouldn't have the opportunity to get a better education than you?

Why close ULM? To save money? The current appropriation to ULM is about $24 million. Of that $14 million are long term liabilities, state employee healthcare costs, and maintenance. Closing the school would only save a net of $10 million because the maintenance, healthcare, and liabilities aren't going to go away. From that you now have 8,000 students that have to find some where to go. That new influx in students to other state universities would require an increase in appropriations to other state schools. So there really isn't much of a savings. The bigger problem in our state is our budget process and a governor who doesn't understand that you can't eliminate the structural problems by just raising taxes. And yes, $24,000,000,000 is enough money to run the state.
