Thank God this wasn’t an actual real world op
The jump into Normandy in the night/early morning hours of D-Day was an actual "real world op." All of the troopers were an "out of state" bunch of soldiers. Many of them died on the drop that night/early morning because of missed landing zones and landing in trees and swamps.

Sounds like the Air Force fricked up and dropped a plane load of paratroopers into the middle of the woods.

Think the CO will be relieved of command?
A ground/Army CO? Doubt it. If they all landed off target in a bunch of trees, that is on the Air Force or Pilots. No control over that........

101 airborne War Eagles were some bad dudes. My grandfather did that jump in Normandy. I think the paratroopers were paid an extra $15 a month—that was a ton of money for an 18 year old dirt farmer from Grand Prairie, LA.

Neighbor and his wife are flight paramedics on Rescue 8 here in Hattiesburg. They are no doubt involved with the transport. Gonna have to get their side of this one for sure.

There were 84 infantry members that should have been part of the jump, and so far 75 soldiers have been accounted for. Base officials are conducting a headcount and say it is "all hands on deck" to get soldiers out of the trees.
Some soldiers suffered limb injuries from hard landings, but none of the injuries are life-threatening, Sangster said.

They have accounted for all the soldiers now

Local news states they were blown off course by the wind causing them to miss their target. 22 have been kept at hospital for injuries sustained.

I'm sure that's what the Air Force wants you to believe.

Damn. If only we had instruments that could measure the wind then they could take it into account on the jump. Someday maybe.

Was just at shelby. Can't imagine it's a great place to jump

With the mentioned unit, was rigged to jump and we got scratched.
DZ was super fricking sketchy and pretty small. If you’ve never been to Shelby it’s hot and there are a frick ton of random arse 60-70 feet trees.
Most of what I’m hearing is hearsay since we’re not actually down there, but I’ve been told there are like 30-40 dudes stuck in trees. Some unconscious and some with severe injuries.
Not blaming anyone, but there’s always the chance that something goes wrong with this kinda shite. I’m praying for no deaths outta this training.

I can’t imagine how you jump in Mississippi and not hit a tree tbh

I hope none of them were snake bitten. That area is rattlesnake haven.
