That must be a climate shock. Go from a place that actually has Fall to an area that doesn't have any sign Fall.

How do 80 troopers miss their landing? Did they all jump too low? Did they collied in the air?

I get that.

And it’s clearly not ridiculous to question something or a similar post on the internet.

But something about that thread seemed, idk, eerie and legitimate.

Breaking News: on the scene at Forrest General where more than 80 paratroopers from camp Shelby injured during training. We’re told some of them landed in trees. Doctors and nurses are being called in to help with injured.

The OP is also a legit frequent poster who doesn't have history of reporting made up stories.

He said he had first hand info from an EMT friend who was called in on this.

I don’t understand what happened, it doesn’t sound like a plane went down. Sounds like a preplanned jump and they were off target or something?

How do 80+ trained paratroopers suffer casualties just by being off target on a jump? Odd story.

It’s all over Twitter.

Apparently they all landed in trees

He did NOT include that when he first posted the thread. It was a vague thread with zero specifics. Was it too much to ask for more info?

He unfortunately turned out to be right

Ever been to that general area? That whole part of the state, at least until Katrina, was thick pine forests.

Depending on where they were trying to jump, there may not have been a wide area for them to land in. Mistiming the jump or getting blown off course could put them into a bunch of tall pines.

Yeah. It’s pretty impressive how Twitter breaks news faster than any other media source

Not to be a smartasss but it's because they were off on a jump. It's not skydiving.

Just curious, is there not a medical facility on the base?

You wouldn't want to hit a tree in one of these parachutes. For civilians you're probably thinking how can they be injured. They are hitting the ground/trees at 20+ feet per second loaded down with shite tons of gear. Imagine hitting a tree with your body at 15mph with 100+ lbs of gear strapped to you. It's like hitting a brick wall in a car.

Not sure of any hospital able to take on 80 patients with serious injuries.

It was also an out of state division on short notice activation operating in a region they have never worked before

Thank God this wasn’t an actual real world op

There is, but there were too many and I believe some were too serious to treat there. Some are being airlifted to other locations. Thats what the PIO for the unit just said.

Did these boys get relocated to Alaska? Last I knew, they called Schofield Barracks (Oahu) home.
