Germany. Specifically about 100 klicks north of Koln right on Dutch border. Driving distance to Paris, Amsterdam, Munich, etc. Got to see Europe like no tourist.
Great experience for 18 months. Close enough to WW II that Europeans still grateful to USA. Also knew we were keeping them from having to learn Russian.
Except the French but, well, they're French.

PI Only place a man could go out it town, get drunk, get lay, get food, get a place to sleep, get lay in the morning, take a taxi back to base all on $5 and still have $2 in your pocket.

Bangkok, Thailand. I was stationed there from 2005-2008.
I was also stationed in Panama from 1996-1997 and Germany from 1998-2001.

Heidelberg, Germany hands down.
Easy job as a plans officer with tons of TDY to awesome places like Israel and Poland.

NTC Orlando for “A” School
Classes by day.... UCF and Disney girls at night...beach 45mins away
One cool perk was having access to the AFB in Cape Canaveral. Watched several shuttle launches and landings at distances not available to the general public

Nothing more awesome than going to work every day at Pearl Harbor. Also, it's in Hawaii for when you're not on duty.

Hill AFB was awesome with all of the Outdoor activities around there. Snowboarding in the winter and camping in the summer. So many national parks in close driving distance and Vegas was a 5 hour drive, so that was cool for a 3 or 4 day weekend. A lot of great times at Hill. I didn’t realize how good we had it there, until I left.

We've probably crossed paths. Oki was great but I'll go with Tampa. Monterrey, CA was good too.

Fort Carson easy. That being said, Hood gets a bad rap and the actual post is terrible but I loved my time there. Made sure to live 30 minutes away from base in a regular Texas town, spent weekends in Hill Country tubing the rivers, camping, riding and partying.
If you're a sports fan it has everything you need within two hours.
I also didn't have kids then and my wife was making good money so that probably skews my perception.

My only permanent station was Ft Bragg since I was in Alcoholics Anonymous. Not much to get excited about in Fayettenam. I was on TDY at Ft. Belvoir for a few months. The base had a very good gold course designed by Robert Trent Jones so we played a LOT of golf. We partied in Alexandria and we went to DC on the weekends.

Damn, I didn't know that had been shut down. I was stationed at Osan AB from November 83 - November 84. Used to love going up there for a weekend and hanging in Itaewon. Soju experience, anyone?
Maybe it's different now but back then, Osan was considered a "remote" assignment, since dependents weren't allowed. I always found that hysterical, because we had the cushiest assignment in Korea.
Before Osan, I was stationed at a tiny (now defunct) satellite tracking facility in Sunnyvale, CA. This was just as the Silicon Valley boom was beginning, so it was fascinating to experience that. Also, the Bay Area was just outside the gates and Lake Tahoe was 3 - 4 hours away. Good times.

That does sound like a great experience, OP.
Fort Bragg for me. That's my favorite.
