Chronic Irritable Bowel Syndrome for the win. Be prepared to shite yourself in front of a bunch of people to prove your point.

I get called every year and from what I see people get out pretty easy. Sure fire way is bring lots of kids under 3 with you and say that you have no one to watch them.
It is a civic duty and if you have nothing better to do I don’t see why you can’t do it.
If you have a job you still get paid, so it’s a free day off from work unless you work at Pizza Hut or something like that.
They always let us keep our phones on us during the selection process. Only when the judge was talking was it ever a big deal to check a text message. I don’t think they would let you read and post on TD for an hour straight while the judge is talking.
I’ve seen people get released for being hard of hearing, under indictment, having a pending trial, being a felon, having prejudices, job issues, child care issues, etc

When you’re questioned, begin each answer with “according to the prophecy”

I tried this when I was 19 (12 years ago) and still ended up getting picked for jury on a 2nd degree kidnapping case.
The follow up question was: do you think that you can still be reasonable despite your pro law enforcement feelings or something like that and I said I could still be reasonable.

Or just do the full Monty and wear a Back the Blue T-shirt, MAGA hat, and sit there reading a Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity book.
Of course, it would probably be easier to just go ahead and do your civic duty.
BTW, don't just straight up tell Mona that you are racist. That would not turn out so well.

3 out of 9 times I got to the final stage of the selection process where the judge and lawyers on both sides go around asking you multiple personal questions. All 3 times I knew almost half the people still remaining in the process cause it’s such a small town.
Aside from personal experience questions about being a victim of crime, relationship with people involved in the case, and knowledge of tbe case they ask quite a bit of questions about your understanding of the law and court procedures. Being a Civics teacher always seems to please the lawyers but I’ve never been selected.
I don’t mind the free day off from work and it’s usually a shorter work day.
Is there anyone on here who doesn’t still get paid from work? You don’t have to use a sick day or a vacation day, right?

A number of self employed people do not get paid if they miss work.

Just say the following:
"Is he (insert race here)?"
"Well hell yeah he/she is guilty. They were guilty the day satan spewed them from his bowels."

Downtown BR. I didn’t realize it either until I saw someone else with one and asked.
Wait, are you in the courtroom actually in voir dire or are you in the... wherever they put you at since the library's all fricked up... waiting for them to call you to a courtroom?
Any time I've gotten far enough to have been asked my occupation, I'd get through approximately "engine" before one or both of the attorneys was moving to bounce me.

Be really knowledgeable about whatever subject the trial is about, sure fire way to get out of it. Neither lawyer wants an expert on the jury.

All you have to say is that you don’t think you can judge the actions of others.

I was called for jury duty in Cook County, IL (Chicago). I was asked my name, whether I had heard or seen anything in the media about the charges (No), my occupation (consultant), and level of education (bachelors).
I was dismissed after the fourth question, no rationale given, the judge told me I was excused, thank you for my time and that I could leave.
The case was for an armed robbery.

Being too biased one way or the other is usually going too get you removed in a criminal trial. If you say you don't trust LEOs or you're proud of your "Back the Blue" bumper sticker, you're probably going to get removed by either attorney.

Ask if it's a death penalty case and get really upset when they tell you it's not.

Sit there looking like you don’t give a shite.
If you actively try to get out of jury duty, the judge will find a way to railroad you onto the jury.
What you want is for one of the sides to get nervous about you and use a challenge if you come up when seating the jury.
Closest I ever got to being seated was a federal drug distribution trial. I just say there not giving a shite and the jury was seated a few jurors before they got to me.
I figured that they would rather take the bird in the hand than risk a wildcard.
