I'm 42 and only been called for Jury Duty once in my life (jeff parish). I ended up knowing (went to high school with) one of the detectives on the case and that got me eliminated.

Ive often heard saying you believe somebody is guilty until proved innocent works.

Isn’t self employed an automatic disqualifier in almost all states? You have to ask the jury coordinator, but here they won’t make you serve if self employed

All you have to say is that you have many prejudices.

Be really knowledgeable about whatever subject the trial is about, sure fire way to get out of it. Neither lawyer wants an expert on the jury.
Last time I was called was the summer after I graduated LSU undergrad. They asked me what I was doing now and I said "I start LSU Law School next semester and am excited about seeing the internal process of the trial system before I start." Both lawyers couldn't object to my presence fast enough. Never understood why that answer, without any other qualifiers, got me out of there so fast.

I’ve been drinking since 11. Hopefully it will make it more interesting

Maybe I should go in with my shoulders out and my hands in a strangle ready position, and say in a Russian accent, “you are Judge, Boris is Jury and Executioner, just like in old country.”

An anecdote of yours with a succinct point and ending? I don’t believe it.

Honestly, I do not give a frick what you believe or don't believe. I hope you get selected, that way, you might not be able to post as much.

Wait, are you in the courtroom actually in voir dire or are you in the... wherever they put you at since the library's all fricked up... waiting for them to call you to a courtroom?
Unless they have recently changed policy you cannot get past the security checkpoint/metal detector at the courthouse with a cell phone.

I’m on the 10th floor waiting to go in the courtrooms, and about half the people here are on devices, so it seems they’ve changed the policy.
Now there’s a sign saying if it’s seen or heard in the courtroom there’s a $75 (happy Terd?) fine and the device is siezed, but they let you take it through security and in the holding area and in the halls.
Just can’t record. Or be on it in the actual courtroom.

Mona at the Baton Rouge jury office will work with you to reschedule if you are self employed and you have a job related conflict, but you still have to serve.

Get a dr yo write you a note saying you suffer from anxiety. Both my parents did this and have never been sent another letter.

I know at least one lawyer who was given the bums rush out of jury duty as well. I was told they didn't want them.

The follow up question was: do you think that you can still be reasonable despite your pro law enforcement feelings or something like that and I said I could still be reasonable.
Yea that's what they hit me with. But I wasn't lying - I come from a long arse line of LEO from ATF and FBI to HPD Vice squad. And the case was some brother who ran away from the cops in his car and then hit one of the officers so naturally the defense didn't think I would be a good fit
