He was near the river, nowhere close to his hotel. His wife was back at or headed to the hotel. Sounds like he went off to buy some drugs from some local kids getting ready to go to college. Definitely doesn’t add up.

Federal agent or not he was off duty and not on a case. This is a mute point he just joe blow citizen.
LSP Officer is not going to shoot unless there was a reason. I hope the officer had a body camera.

I wonder if it was wifey’s idea to head back alone. If she insisted on leaving alone, she’s suspect. Check wife and trooper’s phone records for any previous contact.

Well we do know that cops lie and feds lie so I'm not sure we will get anything close to the truth publicly. Whole situation sounds like a cluster frick that both agencies are trying to clean up.

I missed it. Where does it say she walked back? I have seen plenty of women be put in Uber’s or cabs because they wanted to go back to the hotel before everyone was ready to go. The whole story sounds fishy as frick. This is my opinion:
Dude is waiting in New Orleans to go a cruise with his wife.
They get in a fight.
Dude get super fricked up alone while his wife is back at the hotel.
Dude is drunkenly walking around, while apparently armed, in the middle of the night.
Crosses paths with a trooper while shitfaced and armed and ends up getting shot.
