I would think a special agent who works on catching Army criminals would be trained in some defense. Something besides run and draw.

This. I think something happened to the point where I have a really hard time buying the statement put out by the lawyer.

Shouldn’t the police report or similar documents be a public record that can be obtained on request? Someone from NO needs to step up and do some leg work for the OT detectives.

There are cameras all over downtown and the quarter now

Why does the dude have a lawyer representing him so soon after the incident? He is in damage control mode, big time. Smart, but telling.
Rule #1 for surviving getting shite faced drunk in N.O. - don't go anywhere with anybody for any reason. He got his arse off the beaten path and this is what he got.

As others have pointed out, this story has holes.
The “civilian special agent” was out with his wife drinking. She leaves him and walks back to the hotel by herself. He gets lost and thinks he’s being followed by “two youts - a wut? - sorry your honor, two YOUTHS”, so he starts running with his weapon drawn. He is shot in the stomach and knee but doesn’t know by whom?
Nope,
this honestly seems reasonable. I've been to NOLA with an SO in the past and she got drunk and wanted to go back to the room. I stayed out drinking. Albeit not alone.
Also, if I had a CC and thought 2 NOLA thugs were following me, I'd pull my weapon too.

Most likely wife left, IF the "wife" is not a fabrication, because he was stinking, stumbling drunk carrying his weapon. I would try to get myself out of that situation, as well.

Ive got an experience, where I didnt follow this rule, that I survived unscathed, and it definitely strengthened my belief in God.

If you get injured, lawyer up. That's what every billboard and commercial in the state tells me
Posted on 12/4/18 at 3:36 pm to jbgleason
Y’all need to pull up the address of where he got shot. It’s nowhere near the French quarter. That dude was turned around all kinds of ways if he ended up in that area by mistake
No bars or restaurants down that street. It’s basically behind the convention center

The article said it was his first time in New Orleans. He might not have known that even the touristy areas are shitty and dangerous, which isn't true for the touristy areas of most cities.

Well that’s not true... hell, I used to work on Bourbon on school breaks as an 18-19 year old and never had an issue. Of course, I didn’t engage those that looked dangerous while walking to my car at 3:00AM

"Victim" will be arrested.

They don't have to release it until the investigation is completed and closed.

Damn I would expect this from NOPD but not from a State Trooper.

New report is he drew his gun on the trooper. Trooper fired
