warrant has been issued for a federal investigator who was recovering in a hospital on Tuesday after a state trooper shot him during the weekend.
Ronald Martin, 44, of Fort Knox, Kentucky, is wanted on a charge of aggravated assault. State Police said Martin will be booked after he is released from the hospital.
Martin was reportedly shot after a trooper saw Martin with a gun in his hands about 3 a.m. Sunday in the 800 block of Port of New Orleans Place. Martin pointed the gun at the trooper, at which time he fired at Martin and hit him twice, State Police said.

New report is he drew his gun on the trooper. Trooper fired
Thought you were suggesting the trooper was fired, not that he fired a shot.

Damn I would expect this from NOPD but not from a State Trooper.

Yeah, probably not the best idea to point a gun at a state trooper.......

I told yall pages ago that Elizabeth Carpenter is a terrible attorney.
She shouldn't have come out with those nonsensical statements about her client.

Yep, looked insane from the start, and turned out to be just that.

You wouldn’t expect a trooper to shoot someone that pointed a gun at them?

quote:
A uniformed trooper spotted Martin holding a gun equipped with a laser sight, according to State Police and multiple law enforcement sources.
The trooper then approached him while repeatedly identifying himself as a law enforcement officer, State Police said. When Martin pointed a gun at the trooper, the agency said, the trooper shot him.

Realizing he was being followed by “some young kids … trying to intimidate” him, Martin pulled out a pistol that he had holstered on his ankle and turned to face them in hopes of frightening them off, Carpenter said.
So he’s admitting to unholstering a pistol to flash it at people?

But was the victim able to see that it was a State Trooper? It was dark, how far away was the Trooper?

It's pretty damn easy to see the all-blue uniform in a place as lit up as the French Quarter.

I have no idea why a criminal defense attorney would make a statement first in this situation. She is terrible. If you are in the right, let the police make their statement and then pick it apart. Now her client is locked into the story she made up.

It should be easy to track the path both parties walked that night with their phone gps to see how long they were following each other or if it was a quick encounter.
