There are going to be two issues:
He was appointed to be the face of a movement that he doesn’t truly believe in. His values will clash with the groundswell that pushed him forward
He does not have the savvy or skill set to generally navigate this and maximize the outcomes meaningful to him.
Ultimately, he will end up a small blip on the radar and a story told occasionally. He will be a touring musician forever but not in any meaningful scale. Enough to put gas in the tank.
If only he had the grizzled veterans of being famous that we enjoy here on the OT to explain how it all works.

quote:I listened to him on Joe Rogan. He wasn’t really clear about his political beliefs, tbh. He seemed to be saying that all politicians were crap, and while one side or the other was attacking or supporting him, the idea of the song was more about all of the “rich men north of Richmond” meaning all of the politicos in DC, we’re the problem, not just a particular side or political philosophy.
Don't know much about him, listened to the song for 2 minutes. What makes him a socialist?
He did seem to be hiding the ball a little on what he personally believed, but maybe he’s said some other things I haven’t heard. I haven’t been following his saga, I just watch Rogan a couple times a week and happened to catch that episode.
ETA: I don’t understand the people saying he’s pandering to Republicans or conservatives. After the song was raised at the GOP debates, he specifically came out and said he meant those exact people when he wrote the song.

being famous absolutely sucks unless you just stay off the internet and social media

We need his opinion on everything and God help him if he says something anyone in the world disagrees with. In his position of power and authority, his politics are everything.

He told the folks that were so hyped about him that the song wasn't just about liberals, it was about republicans too.

anyone with an IQ above AOC's knew that already, but sure take your shot against conservatives.

quote:Again, I don’t know his personal politics. But my response to that is, even when the GOP is in power, they don’t make any real substantive changes to most of the types of things he was decrying in the song. You could interpret the song to mean, rather than supporting one team or the other in national politics, that the real problem is the permanent political class in DC that is enriching themselves rather than doing what’s best for the country.
Aren't the policies he lambastes in the song more Democrat platforms? Is he ignorant?

The dude is naive in many ways, but his intentions are good.
He states on facebook that he normally charges 35,000 for a concert. I know there's no way he has over an hour of music.
He should have cashed in on that 120k while he can because he will not be relevant long.

I get he doesn’t want to charge crazy prices. But then he’s going to have to buy his own venue and pay the bills.
