My dad worked there in the 50's. He became a MASTER at Skee Ball. Even later on in life he could hit the 50 point slot on almost every roll.

That movie scared the ever living f*ck out of me. I walked out of that theater trembling. I checked under my bed every night for at least a year to make sure that the devil wasn't under the bed looking to possess me and make my head turn completely around. No other movie has ever scared me that much.

I remember going to New Orleans back in the 80’s and just cruise bourbon street and NOT worrying about being shite. Plus went to many Saints games and parked my car on the street and it was fine. Maybe I got lucky.....

My grandparents lived in Chalmette, so I went there quite a few times as a kid. I remember seeing Gone With the Wind there.
I always thought it would be the coolest thing in the world to live in one of those houses whose backyard faced the drive-in. I remember seeing one of them had hooked up a speaker system and they were in their backyard in lawn chairs watching the movie.

I worked the whole summer in the "Milk Bottle" booth where I would stack 3 bottles on a stool and you threw a ball at them to try to knock them all down to win a prize.
The 2 bottom bottles were half again as heavy as the one on top.
My cousin worked in the Skee-Ball area for 2 summers before moving on and getting a job at Antoine's first bussing tables then becoming a waiter. He made bank there every night.

It's China Rose that used to be near R.E. Lee movie theater in West End. I used to go there often pre-Katrina.
They re-opened post-Katrina on North Arnoult 2 blocks north of Drago's in Metairie. Same owners, cook, and menu. Still good. Best wonton soup and mandarin/boneless chicken around.

That's probably a better location now anyway. Lakeview still seems kind of ghost-townish to me. IDK if it's a Katrina thing or just, um... democracy.
