Catcher acted like he was about that life until the time came. Don't sit in the baseline with all that gear but be too afraid of impact to catch the ball. Hey, there's always first base, less impact and he can still wear a weird mitt. :rotflmao:

They can want in one hand and spit in the other and see what fills up first. Old enough to want a car, they're old enough to work! What happened to kids earning it?
Go to huntinglabpedigree.com and search some of the dogs in that pedigree and then scroll down and click "offspring", rinse and repeat until you get down to a dog that is alive. I did it quickly for a couple dogs in that pedigree and there are some that are alive and breeding. It will be like 5th cousins to your current dog, but if you HAD to have one, that is as close as you'll get.
Honda Pioneer 700 or 1000. Dump bed and alternative rear seating. 700 will probably suffice for your needs, but the 1000 is a MACHINE. I use a 700 and 1000 almost daily and they are fantastic pieces of equipment. If you get the 700 go with the deluxe, it has power steering.

If you want to catch fish, hire an outfitter. If you want to cast all day and likely catch nothing then go buy a mepps and cast it near water rushing around boulders and riffles.

Most importantly, be bear aware. You will be in the heart of griz country.

MSM Turf- Mystery Calculation?!

Posted by southside on 3/11/25 at 2:38 pm
After doing some reading I think that my weed garden/backyard needs an application of MSM Turf. The issue is that I see people speaking in teaspoons, ounces, gallons, and grams and then doing conversions. I am thoroughly confused.

Can someone give me a simple explanation for what I need to mix up for 3500Sqft of yard. MSM Turf came with a plastic measuring funnel that has 0.1oz to 1.3 oz.

There was a strong Bermuda base last year, but the weeds are coming up heavily in the last week or so.

I am completely new to this " fancy lawn" thing, but I would like to understand and start getting some nice grass growing for the kids to play on barefoot.

This is how it used to be done!

Two part question for the OB.

1) What is your favorite gun to shoot birds with? Semi, pump, o/u, sxs - whatever it is, name it.

2) If you had to go buy a gun to hunt with what would it be?

Also... has anybody had experience with the new browning a5's? Any reviews?

Looking at A5, A400, SX4, Citori for now. All thoughts and reviews welcome.

1. Beretta Extrema 2
2. Beretta A300 if I'm on a budget, A400 if I am not limited.

Berettas fit me the best and I have the most experience with them, that's why I keep going to that well. I also shoot an M2 20 gauge on occasion as well as a couple over unders for the sport of it, but majority to my berettas.

I duck hunt 70+ days a year. I see over 200 different guns in the blind each year. Every brand has their issues, nearly the same amount of issues across the board, whether it be Beretta, Benelli, Browning, Winchester or Franchi.

Find the gun that shoulders and shoots the best for you.

So because of these hunters, people were pulled out of their home, away from their families in order to rescue these idiots who thought it was a good idea to go duck hunting in this weather.

Glad they got to earn their pay for a day, nice change of pace. Little more interesting than sitting at a boat launch and harassing hunters about a "signed" duck stamp.

Anyone who knows quality gear knows that you paid 1 cent too much! :booboo:
Speaking of Suppressors....Who threads barrels? i-10 from Mobile to Lake Charles is my territory, so I am open to dropping off a few guns to a good gunsmith along that route.

When I quit about 2010 it was ringnecks and teal. You guys killing any ringnecks?
Killing so many that Ramsey Russel is writing articles about it.

So you hunt a marsh that's being impacted by coastal erosion? Sounds like you're in the prime years of a brackish marsh, where the salinity is perfect to keep widgeon grass but kill off all the other trash veg. Greys, teal, and ringnecks galore. Have fun, your killing days are numbered. I hunted that scenario in the 90s. Now they run crab boats and bay boats through that pond that is now a bay. A duck hasn't landed there in a decade.

I’m excited about this mentality opening up some new lease opportunities.

Have at it. Go get you a nice lease in the heart of Gueydan, Louisiana for $12k. Hunt all season and shoot 30 Ringnecks, 10 Teal, 5 specks, and a dozen sunrise pictures. Give it up and pass it to the next sucker. Rinse and Repeat. There is a sucker born every season.

There is ground around the state has been held by the same lessees for generations and has shot thousands of birds a season, but in the last 5+ years it's been passed around like an orphan to any sorry fool that wants to "try".

It goes for the whole state from Monroe, to Columbia, to Creole. Same story every year.

It's over with. Might as well find a new hobby or drop your expectations for a "duck hunt" down to just enjoying coffee and a sunrise.

Seriously, it's over, done, gone, adios.

FYI a proposed change on the LDWF agenda for 25-26 is a ban on trail cameras for WMAs.
I wish they would ban them everywhere. They really have limited the amount of ground I can hunt on, including my neighbors'! :spank:

And these were not some kind of special deals I was finding, Literally on the MLS.

Ai, social networks, and wholesale/lead generating software has completely changed the game in the last 2 years. They have wiped out the inventory. The tech savvy investor group can now scour an entire state in a few days time by doing no more than telling a program what they are looking for and in what area. If something is on Zillow, Realtor, or MLS than more than likely it is a dud as an investment.

Thermals...School Me

Posted by southside on 1/8/25 at 7:20 am
I'm looking to build a gun with a thermal and suppressor. Haven't decided on caliber yet, but have a few options on my list.

I have done my reading but as always, it seems to be too much info and marketing to make an educated decision. Pulsar has my attention but want to explore the options.

What are the top few brands of Thermals and models?

I am looking for the Toyota Tundra of thermals so to speak. Not cheap, not overly expensive, not a bunch of frivolous bells and whistles, but reliable and worth the money. Something that won't break on me in 2 years.

I will be using this gun for Feral hog and coyote management around my properties. 50-200 yard shots on average.
