I was 39 but felt way over 40 when we had my son in 2008. Only recently have I been asked if I’m his grandfather. Assholes

I wish everyone would have posted their wives ages at time of the birth. We must have some big age gaps in this thread. Successful OT crew with young wives!

One of my best friends had a kid at 42 with his other two kids being 17 and 15. He was loving life and bragging about his sex life. His wife had a mom crisis and wanted a third so they did. Dude is a miserable shite now and totally regrets it. The kid is 15 months and he and his wife haven't had sex since she was around 6 months pregnant.

I'm 42... I've got a 22, 20, 15 and 10 yr old.. At this point I could not imagine having a child at this age... Now.. the fact that I have 2 that pay their own bills is helpful..

But having a child this late in life is a hell naw....

41 and 43. Wife is 9 years younger than me. Love the financial freedom having kids later. Keeping up with them is taxing. Spent today snowmobiling in 2 feet of fresh powder. Most of the day digging our machines out of the snow.

Wife was a year younger than me, she was 44, my girls is now 8. Not a second marriage, we’ve been married for almost 31 years, and we were on BC pills as we were done having kids, with the last one 15 years prior. This was both a blessing and a surprise…..

My ex and I had twins when I was 44. MUCH harder on me than when I was in my late 20’s. I’ve been up all night with both of them puking their guts up so this might not be the best time for me to give my perspective.

41 and my 7 month old daughter is still sound asleep since 11:00.

Good luck future dad. You'll have a few downs but the ups are totally worth it.

I had one at 40. There was a long gap between that one and my first child, and a different wife. The experience from the first child really helps, because you know what is actually needed and what isn't, what to worry about/look for, and what not to worry about. It's my 2nd wife's first, and she worries a lot and asks me a bunch of questions, and I'm like, "that ain't shite, don't worry about it." I was already adjusted to going to bed early and waking up really early in the morning, which I would not have been able to do very well in my 20's. So there are some advantages to being an older dad. My retirement fund will take a hit though, as I'll be spending on a new car, college, and weddings into my 60's. Not ideal.

45... My wife was 31.

Twins... I'm 59 now hauling two 13 y/os to school and sporting events.. Wouldn't change a thing. Now, if I could get my wife to chill out sometimes, life would be easier.

I was 42 when my son was born. I'm 50 now.

This wonderful experience made me realize 2 things:

1) I wish we had him sooner, but during my 30's I still had the mentality of "let's party a bit more".

2) I didn't have to drink to be happy. So I drank much less. Now, I seldom drink (only on special occasions)

Not too long ago, somebody asked me when are we having another kid. C'mon on man!
