My dad was 41 and 45 when my brother and I were born. I had 3 kids of my own at 32, 34, and 36.

He looked a lot younger at 40 than I did

FWIW a lot of the parents at my kids school had their first in their 40s. It’s a pretty affluent school and all the kids seem pretty well adjusted. I think you can bring a lot of wisdom to fatherhood later in life.

38.

The suck level depends on how fast they start sleeping through the night. Six weeks, six months, six years.....

I missed by like 45 days.

If you have back pain issues, go ahead and take out a life policy that can put the kids through college once it becomes too much.

Sounds so miserable. Imagine being in your late 50s and having a teenager. Oof

As a child, the only benefit of having a scraggly balls Dad is that you will almost certainly have a better first vehicle than everyone else in your grade.

38, would have been fine a few years before, but I wouldn't have been ready in my 20s.

I love the OT’s latent desire of self-extinguishing.

Better wait to have kids:

There was a middle manager at my company in a different department I sort of knew who was recently laid off and had a kid 57 years old.

Imagine your kid is a senior in HS and you’re 74 years old.

I will likely be right at or just under 40 when I have my first. I’ve wondered if I would’ve preferred having kids younger, but I’m glad we didn’t. There are times when I think the scraping by and doing it on ramen but doing it as kids lifestyle sounds fun and romantic, but I’m fine how we’ll be doing it.

I’m very secure financially, the wife is still really young so should be fine financially, and we’ll be able to hire any and all help we need so we (hopefully) don’t look like a pair of poor, distressed zombies like so many of my friends looked like who had theirs young did lol.

at 41 & 43. No issues here, I feel like Im way more laid back on things that probably wouldve bothered me in the past. Yes I'm the oldest dad at the ball field but doesnt bother me one bit. & private school is much more manageable in my current situation.

in - first/only when I was 50 and my wife was 36

everything's a trade-off: I don't have the energy I did in my 20s and 30s but I'm a LOT more patient now than I was then

I was 38. I don’t know any different so it’s hard to give a comparison. I was more financially stable than at 28 so it’s been very easy to provide a comfortable life for my kid

Had my last child at 42.

The experiences of my child far outweigh anything else.
