are we pretending that only Republicans were criticized in all of this?
because that would be dumb
I gave politicians a lot of leeway in the beginning simply because this was a completely unprecedented situation and there was no right way to handle it at the time
now once we got more data/info, it became clear that there were better ways forward

I would love for the Dims to run on this.
Trump's simple response would show videos of all the Dims calling him a racist xenophobe for closing down travel to China in F*CKING JANUARY and then even worst for closing down to travel to Europe. When he shut down travel to the U.K. they were apopletic.
Then you had Creature Feature Nancy out there in mid-February inviting everyone out to Chinatown to mingle with thousands in the crowd.
Komrade DeBlasio was encouraging people to come out in New York and take the Subway.
All because Trump was sounding the warning and locking down travel.
NOW, they want to say Trump was LATE?
SERIOUSLY, how f*cking stupid do you have to be to be a Dimocrap these days?

Hell just testing people in Seattle in early January would have helped. The govt refused to test until 10 days two doctors defied govt orders and tested on their own. Got a positive result and CDC had to cofirm.

the article is behind paywall, so someone help me out, but does the article blame Trump here?
because the title calls out NYC and NOLA, both Democrat lead cities

The models have been so consistent and on point, this one must be right as well!
I remember when models told us at least 1-2 million people would die from covid-19. They were so accurate!

No, but Republicans were never given the benefit of the doubt or the slack that Democrats have been given. Cuomo was telling nursing homes that they weren't allowed to turn away recovering COVID patients and the MSM pretty much ignored the fact that he seeded medical facilities with the walking dead.

If the United States had begun imposing social distancing measures one week earlier than it did in March, about 36,000 fewer people would have died in the coronavirus outbreak, according to new estimates from Columbia University disease modelers.
I mean hell if we had been social distancing forever then maybe no one would catch anything

And who did LaToya blame?
Trump for not telling her that she needed to shut down Mardi Gras

No, we would have all died back in the 70s from the New Ice Age that was predicted by...models.

My point was that the people dying aren’t exactly those who survive viruses often much less one that they would likely be exposed to eventually without a “cure” or “vaccine” available yet. The total number of lives lost over a certain period would eventually equal out at some point in that hypothetical scenario.

It's interesting to see how, just over the last decade, we've morphed into such an insulated fantasy world in the US that we think something that has been happening to humans for thousands of years could never, and would never, be allowed to happen again.

After Italy and South Korea had started aggressively responding to the virus, President Trump resisted canceling campaign rallies or telling people to stay home or avoid crowds. The risk of the virus to most Americans was very low, he said.

Your hypothesis assumes we are incapable at getting better at treating a novel virus. That's a pretty big flaw with your line of thinking.

Half the population is going to complain regardless of action or inaction. Fabricated drama is the norm today, and reactionary, angry people are controlling the narrative.
It seems that most people do not want to b responsible for their own actions.

If Democrat states didn’t seed nursing homes with the virus we’d have saved 50,000 people

Ron DeSantis and Brian Kemp has some of the lowest governor approval ratings on Covid which is absurd. The way those two have handled their states should be the gold standard. The media is trashing Republican governors doing a good job and praising Democrat governors keeping their states locked down and filling up nursing homes with Covid patients.
