Going from an NFL contract to construction worker points toward bad decision making.
At least he was making an effort to work and take care of his family

Brush your teeth kiddos
Here is what happened, because something similar happened to me (obviously I caught it before it progressed, I’m typing this message right now)
- He took a bonk on the head that caused his teeth to collide with a large amount of force.
- A few days later he started having pain in the tooth that took the brunt of the shot.
- Root dies from the blunt force trauma and becomes infected.
This is where Mike and I diverge.
- He ignored the pain and kept working — I went to the dentist.
- His infection grows into his sinuses and eventually into his brain — I had a root canal that cleaned out the rotten root.
A lot of people, especially in a construction setting, don’t want to “whine” over a toothache. He also likely had a very high pain tolerance built up from years of football.
Tooth pain is no joking matter

This is why you should periodically see your dentist. I know several on this board like to brag about not having been to the dentist in years when a dental/thooth thread is started.
I mean it would appear this dude was knocked into a fricking coma.
This has nothing to do with a dentist or dental insurance.

Williams also suffered from arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease, or a buildup of fat and cholesterol on the walls of his arteries.

Hell yeah! Damned NFL hid that toothbrush and the number to the dentist’s office from him every fricking day! Made him eat candy every night before he went to bed!

So was it because he didn’t take care of his teeth or because he had a trauma at a work site that led to infection, sepsis etc?

The timeline says august accident pulled off life support in September.
So I’m assuming this wasn’t because he ate candy and didn’t brush his teeth. It’s from trauma and it got infected and he died within a few weeks.

My dad was bad off after he didn't get a cracked tooth taken care of. We thought he was having a stroke because he was talking nonsense. Dentist said that the infection from the tooth got in his blood stream. Scary shite.

The guy was on life support so obviously couldn't brush his own teeth. Oral hygiene falls on the hospital staff at that stage in life
Wasn't he on life support for like a week? It's not like it was a year.

I can’t keep up with all the Mike Williams wide receivers in the NFL. I think there’s one playing currently then this one and there was another that went to USC.
I think this is the one that had some dust ups with Lattimore. Or was that a different Tampa WR?

natural selection as far as im concerned. bye.

I’ll be seeing a low level NFL starter tomorrow night. I’ll ask him about this, but I’m fairly certain it’s bullshite.
The concussion settlement payout language specifically stated that the NFL should pay out african american players less because they start off with dminished mental capability based on their peers. Ask him about that. Im sure the guys and gals at Skadden Arps will tell you all about it.

Yeah frick that guy for working hard after flaming out of the nfl.

In Anthropology class we studied an early hominid that died at approximately 22 years of age.
Cause of death: infected tooth.

I didn't shite on his work ethic. I just said the fact that he had to go work a construction job after 5 years in the NFL leads me to believe he didn't make good decisions.

Excellent explaination.
I gotta assume, this was likely more than moderate tooth pain though. Likely hurt like a mother fricker.
