Rotten teeth are a major gateway to sickness, especially cardiac issues.

I’ll be seeing a low level NFL starter tomorrow night. I’ll ask him about this, but I’m fairly certain it’s bullshite.

He went from the NFL to construction work, so that's probably not the case anymore.

Maybe he just liked working in construction. It’s not so bad getting exercise and breathing in the fresh air.

Explain without using the phrases or words “the league owes them” or “the player deserves”.

League minimum is $750K. Millions and millions of people get shite on a lot worse at their jobs for a shitload less than $750K.

I think the answer lies in what did he do with the millions he made while playing.

Obligatory posse's are expensive.

The guy was on life support so obviously couldn't brush his own teeth. Oral hygiene falls on the hospital staff at that stage in life

died as a result of sepsis through dental decay
quote:

Williams worked in construction in the Tampa Bay area following his NFL career. On September 1, 2023, he was severely injured in a worksite accident in which a steel beam fell on his head, paralyzing his right arm and his body from the waist down. He was admitted to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa. While he initially appeared to be faring well after surgery, his condition declined rapidly and he was placed in a medically induced coma. After conflicting reports as to whether Williams had died or not on the evening of September 5, Lyle said the following day that Williams was alive and on life support. By September 7, Lyle stated that Williams had been taken off life support, but was surviving and responsive. However, Williams died on September 12, at the age of 36.
Sad story.

His teeth look fine to me in the pics I saw of him smiling in a quick google search.

I need to learn more info on what causes that cause I’ve met people who haven’t cleaned their mouth since well before this dude was born. Has to be more to it than not practicing good dental hygiene.

I can’t keep up with all the Mike Williams wide receivers in the NFL. I think there’s one playing currently then this one and there was another that went to USC.

I remember one of them getting into trouble several years back but not sure which one.

I didn't read the OPs link but from what I read this morning I gathered it was a result of retained roots. I gathered he had an accident ion the construction site that broke of tooth or teeth then either:

The dentist/oral surgeon left some root

He didn't have the money for a dentist

He hated dentists too much to go or he didn't think it was a pressing issue

I also understood it was a very rare form of sepsis to act this fast. Retained roots and bad oral hygiene can cause life-threatening problems but usually, they are from something like endocarditis which impacts ejection fraction but usually doesn't kill you this quickly. More of a slow road with the possibility of needing valve replacements etc.
