Did they really waste money and resources to do this study? They could have just looked at the results from Covid.

This study used BMI.

The OT assures me that BMI is a bullshite measure of fitness.

It might be outdated, but it’s not bullshite.

I know. But every BMI thread here is the same, with retards bringing up NFL linebackers like they are average people.

The OT loves to hate fat people right up to the point when they realize they are fat.

Our findings refute the notion that a physically active lifestyle can completely negate the deleterious effects of overweight and obesity

May be true, but by actually living a real physically active lifestyle. Pounds are going to begin to come off one way or another.

Are you saying most people 5’10 200 lb + are not fat?

For a board that loves its STEM, most here fail to grasp basic statistics and the concept of the rule vs the exception. Just like the “well I know a guy who scored a 20 on the ACT and he’s a millionaire” threads

What would the OT be without the weekly thread about people being overweight or trashy? Heck, according to the OT BMI standards, I'm probably overweight too.

people who consider exercise a hobby, and then pick on others astound me.

We have completely ran out of things to research.
Fatties are an easy study.

They are easy to spot.
They can't run away.
Easy to condition/train as they respond well to treats.

Hell, looks like we have the beginnings of TulaneLSU Top 10 thread.

ummm you realize that if you are 5'10" 200 lbs, pretty much the lowest BF you could be would be 12%. Meaning you would be fricking ripped at that weight if you are truely in shape.

know how I know you dont understand what the average bodyfat is on the average gym rat??

google some TD BMI threads

here are some classic replies

quote:

Mine says I'm overweight, but I'm in a size 32 pants and medium shirt. My doctor basically told me that it's BS, and they have much better ways to test fat.

quote:

BMI to determine obesity is an absolute joke anyway.

quote:

BMI measurement is BS anyway.

quote:

I've never seen Trump as obese at all. He has some extra weight he could lose. If you want obese, come down to Louisiana and watch the people coming through the drive thru at Popeyes, etc. You'll see what obese looks like.

quote:

Well, if BMI says Trump is obese then all of the linebackers in the NFL are obese. It's amazing how fast those obese guys run the 40.

quote:

33 and I'm not fat.

quote:

BMI was originally created for census population studies. To be used as it is today is dumb.

quote:

BMI 26.4
No one would say I’m overweight

quote:

It's a fricking sham, and another way for Doctors to claim people are obese and get them on pills.

Just ran my numbers, LOLOL I'd need Aids and a leg or 2 removed to get to underweight by that shite chart. And the chart is from the 50's.

quote:

I'm 6'2" and weigh right around 215. It says that at 145 pounds, I still would not be considered underweight. That is why BMI is a crock of crap.

My ideal weight is right around 200-205. Less than that, I start looking like Christian Bale in the Machinist.
