This is such BS. no teenager anywhere gives a shite about pythogora’s thereom. Give me a break
These teenagers clearly give a shite about it. Maybe you didn't when you were a teen, and that's okay, but don't project. Sometimes kids want to learn more about the world. That's much more believable than "it's all made up because teens don't want to learn things."
These kids are doing everything right in life. There's no need to shite on this or make references to Hidden Figures. The point is that they're showing an interest, not that they're the next Gauss (because who is?)

Reading the other article posted. It appears they did not crack the code , but suggested a way it may happen?
I’m not a math nerd .
Fabricated or not Im glad they are running around with math people rather than New Orleans East gangsters.
Maybe they can break the cycle. Whoever said a movie is coming, nailed it. Disney for sure.

I thought math was racist

It is frustrating and transparent when the media decide to overpraise, very ordinary “achievements“. Why? Because they are determined to convince us that what we see and experience isn’t real.

Will Hunting solved this years ago on a white board

Whether they actually proved what they set out to prove is immaterial. It's so refreshing to see news stories about positive things happening in south LA.
These young ladies are spending their free time thinking while so many teenagers have their faces glued to snap chat.
I wouldn't know if this story is accurate or not but what I do know is that the truth is not immaterial. Not even a little.

But I think we should all be glad that they are, at least as i understand it, working hard in the classroom and not doing some "trigonometry was invented by a white male and is racist" shite.

Obviously some posters here are going to devalue it no matter what
It’s funny how you don’t realize you’re just as racist as those boogeymen “some posters”

So I’ve been accused of being racist and gaslighting. What’s next, microaggressions? Do you neckbeards need safe spaces now ?

dunno about math, but quite a few posters on the OT... that's a different, and sad, story

That is amazing. So impressive. I do not even know where to begin my thoughts.

However, it is not related to the Pythagorean Theorem, which is a statement about the relationship between the sides of a right-angled triangle.
That’s just asinine. It isn’t simply related to the Pythagorean Theorem, it IS the Pythagorean theorem.

the link is worthless - says no more than what the title tells us.
would have loved to see their actual presentation, not 3 newspeople talking senselessly.
especially after a 20 second commercial -

They say they've proved Pythagoras' Theorem can be proven with trigonometry -- something that many thought was impossible.
They changed the article to say “without”
When I first read this I was like wtf no shite it can be proven WITH trigonometry. That’s what it is.

That’s because it fake.

In reverse, can Pythagoras prove that a Chick FIL A can succeed in NO East with employees who say “my pleasure”?
(May I help you)^2 +
(Would you like cheese)^2 =
(My pleasure)^2
Do it, P!

Confusing. The proof i know of the Pythagorean theorem is geometric but doesn't use trig. Would like to see their proof.
Either way it's good to see high school students thinking about proof writing.
