Bingo.
I just love how of all the things wrong with Louisiana, our lawmakers seem to have a boner about trying to be the cyber police

The prevalence of structured/scheduled extracurriculars for kids has skyrocketed. But you knew that already.

No.
People that support policies such as this don’t see themselves as people in need of government direction, it is for everybody else. They know best.
Leftists feel the same way about different issues.

No it’s not. Government needs to stay out of parenting
Some people bring their kids to drag shows (which I think its weird, but its not my fricking kid) and people flip out, want the government to not allow these things to happen. Wants the government to do something about what kind of books are in school libraries, etc..
Everyone complains about how bad social media is on society... State wants to require kids under 16 to get parent approval to use social media... Now its too much government and you don't need the government telling you how to raise you kids?
should they not put an age limit on alcohol and tobacco products? What about guns? Should a 13 year old be able to pick up a 6 pack. a cartoon of cigarettes before going by a .22 so him and his pals can go sit behind the levee, drink, smoke and shoot shite?
Make up yall fricking mind and stop being hypocrites. Or at least admit you are a hypocrite. I am. But I also use common sense as well.. And some of you people are morons.

I’ll just tell my kid to use the nearest pay phone.

I don’t understand what the law hopes to accomplish, seeing as how the vast majority of parents who buy their kids a smart phone or computer realize that their kids are on social media.
It just throws up an extra hoop.
“Mom! Check your email, and click the link provided.”
Done.

Really comparing law about social media with a 13 year old buying booze and cigarettes?
Posted on 7/3/23 at 11:11 pm to Norbert
It says that the legislation at least attempted to do something
Posted on 7/3/23 at 11:13 pm to SportsGuyNOLA
Government needs to stay the frick out of it. Period,

More fathers- less government. If we would raise our children, we wouldn’t need government.

I hate to say this but
Since the mouth breather parents clearly won't do it themselves yet continue to breed relentlessly
then yeah the government does need to step in if this country has any hope for a remotely civilized future.

Look at all these "small Government conservatives" clamoring to give Uncle Sam more control
Yeah, I truly don't get it. I also don't get people actually supporting no cell phones until 18. WTF, people? I am thankful my parents weren't so controlling. Loved staying out all night with friends, never got into trouble. These same people probably say, "nothing good happens after midnight." How about just set good examples and raise good kids who can be responsible with cell phones?

My daughter had a hard time starting 7th grade because the rules were so strict. I had to explain to her that the strict rules were more for the kids that don’t know how to act than the kids that do.
Laws are the same way, but we have to be sure that the laws for the people that don’t know how to act don’t infringe on the rights of those of us that do.

Then get off Tigerdroppings.
Thousands of kids go missing every year. My kids will get cell phones as soon as they are old enough to be left at practice alone.

Yes it is. But non-parenting parents will give permissions just like they let their kids roam the streets at night.

I actually don’t have as much of a problem with this than I do other La laws.
