Does this mean every person has to verify his/her age to sign up for an account? We all need to send copies of our drivers licenses to Chicken now?

What? What’s even the driving age? It was 16 and up when I was younger.

Meaning they can rear end you and sign up for social media. What you are looking for is they can take puberty blockers, beat up teachers, throw shite at cars, and not sign up for social media.

I agree.

Just putting it on perspective. You can’t buy a gun, a beer, or cigarette at 16 and social media is worse for a 16 year old than all three.

Depending on how Chicken handles it. Yes.

It is a fricked up law built on the same language the porn law is. And supported by Landry. So, do with that what you will.

As much as I believe social media is an epidemic, this is not the way to solve it.

Need permission to access social media, but you can perform sex change surgeries on these children at any age. Prescribe medication to halt puberty no problem. Ok John Bell

And not one democrat has come to JBEs defense...weird.

Its fascinating to me that seemingly normal, day to day people believe its ok to chop a kid's dick off...

But here we are.

No it’s not. Government needs to stay out of parenting

Meh. We’ve always allowed parents to make decisions for minors.

Yeah, but not government telling parents how to make decisions and prove their decision to the government...

No social media or drivers licenses until 18 would save more kids than a gun ban. But libs would never take away their precious Facebook and TikTok.

I am a conservative with a libertarian lean. But I understand the intent here though I don't see how it could be adequately implemented. It's a fumbling attempt to offer parents a way to try to control their children's social media presence like ID laws for buying alcohol. Unlike an ID check for purchasing alcohol, there are no criteria for deciding who you have to check. Do they look under 30? Don't know, can't see them. How will a social media site know if the person signing up is 16 or 61 other than them being honest? Which a 15-year-old sneaking onto social media is not going to be. So it is a pointless law. So now they will be asking for your personal information? That I don't like. It seems like a law doomed to failure.

No cell phones until 18 would be a good law.

Agreed. We don’t let kids buy guns. As far as I’m concerned cell phones are even more dangerous.

Would also keep all the hover parents from being terrible parents and not letting their kids be kids.

Thanks. But I don’t need the government to tell me my kid isn’t old enough to have social media. In fact, I don’t need the government to tell me anything my kid does or doesn’t need. And I’d go so far as to say, if you feel you need the government to either tell you what your child does or doesn’t need, or have the government instead of you provide anything for your child, then you shouldn’t have that child.

So, like the porn law, it will force the teens to learn the difference between 5G and WiFi.

This is one of those well intentioned laws that is completely unenforceable and a waste of time to even talk about. Getting kids off social media would solve a huge number of other problems, especially the trans contagion, but it’s unrealistic for the e government to be involved.

When the people who created social media won’t let their own kids on and won’t give them phones, maybe other parents should listen. But no, there were 2nd graders carrying brand new iPhones at my daughters school. Absolutely insane.

No. I like the idea, but I also like freedom. I should have the right to monitor and set parameters for my children on social media. The state doesn't give me any money to raise my kids, my kids don't get free education, because I don't want the government to have any part in raising my children.
