It by no means discounts any deaths, but to date it’s 2.

I’m not sure if things have changed since I went to LSU, but every Ole Miss kid I ever knew had waaaaay worse drug problems than anyone I knew at LSU. You sure Louisiana is the problem here?

you had to try to OD back in the day. ODs were mostly just heroin users. Still kind of are today, but "heroin" now is just fent because it was easier to smuggle in and tinfoil hat we aren't in afganistan any more propping up poppy suppliers.
back in the day maybe they toss some baby lax in the coke or whatever, but it wasn't going to kill you unless you are doing charlie sheen levels without charlie sheen tolorence. Now you have to worry about fent because who knows where drugs are being cut and whatelse they cutting thus coke getting fent in it. Doesn't take much fent to kill someone, especially someone 10 beers deep and snorting lines of blow.

Right. But they had to start somewhere. At some point there was at least one sober, conscious decision of “Yes I’m going to buy some shite in a plastic baggy of unknown content from some dude named “Froggy” that my cousin’s best friend said could hook me up with. Then I’m going to put it in my body.” That’s a huge hump for me to overcome.
Just go drink a case of beer. At least you can generally trust what’s in your Budweiser.

Now, it it's like a chemical derivative of the 7oh stuff that boomers think is kratom leaf, then that's a different story. Calling that stuff the same as natural kratom supplement is like calling ibuprofen oxcontin. It still won't stop politicians and leo from trying to capitalize on a tragedy. They've been foaming at the mouth to put it on the same level nationally as drugs like heroine. Big pharma has hated it for years.
A lot of people who are knowledgeable know the usefulness of it, I did firsthand, but that doesn't matter to a law maker who pops an Adderall in the morning and chases it down in the evening with a shot of hard liquor and a benzodiazepine to sleep. I feel bad for the people who use natural organic kratom supplement to manage chronic pain in Mississippi, and it looks like the "narcotics" division's release is already working with the mass hysteria.
