If you conveniently ignore the 5 to 13 second window in the video, where you see him repeatedly rack the slide, dropping live rounds.
That can happen to anyone. The fact he didn’t panic is telling, like him scrambling to pick them up - he didn’t because he knows it doesn’t matter, no prints. Assuming, of course.
The only really telling from the video is the coldness and lack of panic. The other stuff could go either way.

My assumption is that the movie level “pro” assassins barely exist at all and most “pros” are not elite marksmen or weapons experts, they’re bold and criminal minded folks who have firearms competency that is probably bested by a not insignificant portion of gun guys on this board.
Now, that dude may have murdered someone before, and that provides some mental fortitude most of us probably couldn’t muster in a similar spot (ignoring basic morality concerns). But expecting even a competent murderer for hire to be some flawless ghost isn’t realistic. In other words, this guy with all his flaws could be in the top 10% of people willing to do this for money, and he’s still a far cry from Hollywood expectations we have for “pros.”
Cool Peak Design backpack tho

I’m thinking Ruger Mark IV with a Chinese solvent trap.
Holy cow that's my setup, but I have the orange and black model

Would be hilarious if some data nerd breaks the case

Most are saying he is most likely using a suppressed handgun with low velocity ammo to reduce the noise and hand cocking the handgun to cycle it and collect the spent casing in one move.
That's a pro move.
Learned something today.
how do you do that with a semi auto and do it all in one hand? def not a pro. pro would walk up behind you and get it close range. This guy was 10 yards away. the firearm was not cycling properly. Anyone can purchase a suppressor.

Some random poster that is pretending to know what they are talking about will be along shortly to tell us how this means the guy made a rookie mistake.

This is pretty much the truth. Think of Chris Partlow from The Wire. It's much more important to have the mental elements of a killer than the physical and/or training elements

Great points.
Also, if not a pro, someone with sincere dedication who rehearsed it many times in his head.

I’m thinking Ruger Mark IV
If I was assassinating someone, I'd do it with a MkIV + can + catch bag. Quiet, cheap, reliable
I have a MkIV 22/45 with a Thunderbeast can that is nasty. It + ziploc would be perfect
My PPQ 22 would also be perfect. Eats every type of ammo

Where were you at this morning?
Posted on 12/4/24 at 5:27 pm to Carson123987
Somewhere like NYC I really don't think there's even a reason to be super quiet. A 9mm with normal rounds and a supressor around a bunch of buildings with big city noise pollution would be more than enough to make it extremely unlikely to cause a major stir. Car back firings, construction noise, etc. is common enough most people in NYC likely don't blink an eye if a suppressor is used.

Yep - either a pro (in the realistic use of that term) or a very well rehearsed guy with a grievance.
I lean toward the former just because most guys willing to murder a CEO in NYC probably aren’t of sound mind enough to calmly prepare for and undertake this, but you never know.

Unless the “Pro” doesn’t know anything about suppressors and has his piston installed incorrectly. Or has no piston at all.
No piston is my guess.
If he did it on purpose to rack the slide and catch the brass. He’s a pimp.

Well practiced, knows what he’s doing.
A pro isn’t using techniques taught in your conceal carry class.

He wanted to collect the casings as well

Why are you guys saying a pro would point blank shoot someone? I’m not an expert but I would think being point blank would allow for blood splatter and I think you’d want to avoid that. If that wouldn’t happen, explain why it wouldn’t, I’d really like to know.

Shooter is def not a “pro” though
Go watch pros on YouTube operate that gun. LINK
The shooter was operating it more smoothly than the ex-military guy on that YouTube channel, while he was murdering a major CEO in front of one of the busiest hotels in New York City. I know you think life is like the movies, but you would lose complete control of your motor skills in that situation and probably drop the gun and fall down, much less operate it perfectly, catch the casings, then casually stroll off into the city.
The guy is 1000000% a pro
