Personally I absolutely love Illinois. You may pay a few hundred more but they have some top notch public land.
Out of the 7 years I have gone, I’ve tagged out 6 of those with bow. Would have been 7 for 7 had I made a better shot on a 140 I couldn’t find.
I love everything about that area. Rural, friendly people, cost efficient housing/food
But the thing that has always drawn me back is knowing that I have a real chance at killing a booner.

Go with the crawler. I’ve owned and used several other types. Nothing comes close to it
Also I’ve quartered up several deer and packed them out until I realized I wasn’t gonna be Jeremiah Johnson no matter how many deer I packed out. It’s cool and all and really lets us get a taste of how it was done 150 years ago, but it ain’t easier than wheeling one out on a crawler and taking to a rack. Not even close.
So much easier, cleaner, and just better to clean one at a dedicated skinning location with water, table, light, etc

Absolutely this. This is exactly what you want to hear. Surveillance and mining for evidence at this point. Accomplices/Network. Who knew what when, if anyone. Motive. Etc. They don’t want him to run. They want him cool, comfortable, and very confident

They look exactly like a civilian that isn’t wearing a plate. High quality armor tailored for a specific individual’s body will not be distinguishable under normal circumstances. For obvious reasons. This ain’t Iraq.

They know exactly who their guy is. Likely knew within 4 hours of the shooting tops.

Could be. Many parts to that equation. After seeing several different vids of the shot, you can tell he was wearing something obviously.
The bullet hit close to an edge. Either fragments of the bullet or fragments of the plate are what got him.

Which is exactly what it looks like, to me.
There is a video taken from Charlie’s left, fairly close. It looks like the round fragmented for sure when it hit the armor. Shirt blows out. Part of the bullet can be seen deflecting off to Charlie’s right.

At first I told myself, No way..I don’t want to see it. Too painful. And it is. It’s fricking awful. But it’s not for kicks. It is to really show you what these people are capable of.

I know what the video looks like but I’ll trust what Solomon says. He’s not just some random dude speculating based off of what he saw.
So Charlie was absolutely wearing a plate if Solomon says he was. They’ve known one another for years, very close. Odds of a ricochet may be minuscule but apparently it can happen.
