Like I said. Just my opinion. The boy is a well known predator hunter (at night). And has taken some big deer. Certainly not a crime but you better be on your p and q’s because that is gonna draw a little attention in itself.

Having said that. You glass a deer at night (which he admitted to) and have a loaded rifle with thermal within reach, and have a lookout/driver (which is how most all night road hunters operate)…

Yeah he was 100%night hunting, absolutely no doubt in my mind. You don’t stop and look at deer in that situation. He knows that. Green jeans knows that. Which is also why he continues playing dumb saying “so it’s a crime if you don’t shine a light on em?” So he knows you shouldn’t shine deer but doesn’t understand that using thermal is an invisible spotlight? Lol yeah sure bud. He would have lit that deer up had he seen heat.

No to rain on your parade man but it’s gonna happen. It’s not like every public hunt is gonna be bad. 95% of the time it’s cool in my opinion. But when you have that bad experience it will change everything.

And a pro tip for everyone regarding all of those “friendly” public land guys. Not saying all of them, but most of them ain’t your friend. They’re looking for info. Best believe they are memorizing every detail you give them. Coming from someone with over 30 years on public. You can make friends but careful what you say

Absolutely. Just basing it off of his hired security and the fact that he was wearing armor. He knew the risk.

Also, armor isn’t always a 40lb plate like your buddy wore in Afghanistan. Armor like Charlie was wearing weighs pounds and stops a 30-06 round 999 times out of a 1000

Personally I absolutely love Illinois. You may pay a few hundred more but they have some top notch public land.

Out of the 7 years I have gone, I’ve tagged out 6 of those with bow. Would have been 7 for 7 had I made a better shot on a 140 I couldn’t find.


I love everything about that area. Rural, friendly people, cost efficient housing/food

But the thing that has always drawn me back is knowing that I have a real chance at killing a booner.

They look exactly like a civilian that isn’t wearing a plate. High quality armor tailored for a specific individual’s body will not be distinguishable under normal circumstances. For obvious reasons. This ain’t Iraq.

Everything about the hit says armor. One of the dudes close friends says he was wearing armor. It’s really not even debatable at this point

Could be. Many parts to that equation. After seeing several different vids of the shot, you can tell he was wearing something obviously.

The bullet hit close to an edge. Either fragments of the bullet or fragments of the plate are what got him.


You can’t tell he’s wearing anything before the shot because, well..you’re not supposed to.

At first I told myself, No way..I don’t want to see it. Too painful. And it is. It’s fricking awful. But it’s not for kicks. It is to really show you what these people are capable of.

And honestly I feel like Charlie would want you to see it and use it as fuel to take a stand.

Ha.. Have a few others on cam that are roughly the same size as this guy scoring wise. Pleasantly surprised with the quality on Alabama Public land
