dude what are you freaking out about?

the article says "Inflation was flat in October from the prior month, core CPI hits two-year low"

not that all the inflation that happened is gone.

updating data every 6 months instead of annually seems like it would yield more accurate data, no?

Read what it says, though. They are still using a two-year moving average to smooth the changes. There's still a lag and not a real indication of current rates.

LSURussian understands this stuff better than most. Maybe he can chime in.

My latest electricity/gas bill (month of October) was lower by more than 50% from September.

Isn't that normal for you know, fall weather?

Good news, inflation is over. Ignore that everything is up 50% from 2 years ago.

First of all they ain't up 50%. Second of all inflation slowing, as the link suggests is happening, is not deflation, which is what you are talking about.

If you want to see the inflationary impact go to your Amazon account and order something. Before they take you to the checkout it tells you all the price changes that have occurred since you bought items last.

The rate of inflation is slowing. It's a positive thing.

So we are supposed to be happy that inflation didn’t go up another 8% over the previous month. Until it gets back down to where it was before Pedo Joe took office I will not be happy. He is such an embarrassment representing our country. He can’t even walk up the stairs to Air Force One so now they let him go up the small steps at the back of the plane. What’s scary is if he croaked the person that would take his place is worse than him. And that’s saying something

CPI is shite as it doesn't measure a lot of actual items people purchase.

I'm still trying to figure out how so many people can still afford to eat out all the time. That stretch of restaurants just north of Conroe on 45 stays packed.

Is my family the only suckers who tightened their belts? I mean we're OT rich, but we do ok.

Sweet Jesus, do you poor people ever shut up? God bless the free market and Capitalism. Don't like your economic situation? Work harder and improve it! This is one of the few countries where that can happen. If you stay poor, it is because your are either stupid or lazy....which is it?

I mean, I see the usual suspects posting in this thread that normally sky scream about political posts on the OT, but I haven't seen a single post mentioning it in this one.

Probably just an oversight.
