People do not care enough about this and will only use 1 profile going forward.
I care about it a bit. My profile is meticulously curated.
I'd consider giving up Netflix over this, except in bursts to catch up.
I would definitely dump Netflix if their old rating system was in place (which was the GOAT and Amy Schumer kilt it).

It’s like they learned nothing from their old nemesis Blockbuster
I think it's kind of clear Netflix just lucked out when it was the first major streaming option and content was cheap. Kind of created the entire brand and acceptability for normies to change habits.
But since that lucky market share grab, it's just been run into the ground. It could never adapt when studios caught up to streaming licensing value and other options came in, because it targeted original content. Again, hit a few lucky ones out of the park early but has probably lit a couple billion on fire on original content.

Other services limit the users. Having 10 people share a netflix account wasn't going to last forever.
I have 2 Hulu profiles. Used in the same household, so it's not the scenario you're talking about. Prime, too.

I don't want the crap my wife watches on my profile!
THE ABSOLUTE HORROR IN THIS!!!!
There's some absolute fricking snowflakes on this board. This is the most 1st world complaint I've seen in a long time. Why don't you cry harder about it?

This.

Netflix characterized the new idea as a 'thoughtful' way to solve the account sharing problem which has plagued them for years.
Netflix still claiming that account sharing is why they're not making the profit they want is hilarious.

Like the guy who said "Good. I’ve been wanting to cancel."
Imagine walking in on your wife getting pegged by the mailman and responding with "Good. I've been wanting a divorce anyway". You don't need to shite yourself to know your bowels work.

Blockbuster did Blockbuster in for refusing to adapt. Not sure why everyone and their dog don’t know this by now. While Redbox was busy stealing their business, Netflix offered to sell themselves to Blockbuster - BB refused.
This is correct. BB screwed themselves.

After Stranger Things I don’t think I’ve watched anything on Netflix. I watched one series on Hulu and I can’t recall the last time I used Apple TV. Not sure if my wife or FIL use my account for anything so cancelling is NBD.
I just think it’s a stupid move by Netflix to charge more regardless of their reasoning.

t’s just a money grab to handle the increase in competition as all the networks pull content and have their own platforms.
And rather than try to put better content out there, they are going to start charging more than the competition while having worse content. Guess that's what happens when you use your platform to launder money to politicians
This should do great things for their bottom line.

Fresh does not equal good. I'm sure they have lots of fat at the top making millions. Increasing prices without offering anything in return will only push customers away, and/or people will reduce accounts to minimum service. Maybe it will be a wash on the top end, but to make the same profits based on less customers is not a good business model. As a CEO, I would rather make a little less money on the top and increase customer base contributing to that.
Which billion dollar company are you the CEO of again?
I don’t watch much tv but I’m up 37% on my Netflix stock I bought a few months back

Get together with friends. Max out the number of profiles. Split the total cost. You get Netflix at a reduced price.

Good. I’ve been wanting to cancel.
Then cancel. You are an adult and you couldn't make this decision for yourself without a $4 price increase?

Jokes on you now suckers.

Are they trying to get people like me to cancel?
I have a profile for my wife and I that's PW protected.
My kids (ages between 4 and 9) have an profile with age appropriate safeguards in place.
Now I'm going to be charged for this?
I'm about done with Netflix.
