Same here. I am in law school now, and our entire grade for a class is based on a single 3-hour exam, and half of my class is in another room taking it with either 1.5X or 2X the time.
Yes, this has been a thing for a while. I felt like a minority not doing it.
When we discussed it back then, the abuse potential seemed endless. Ok, even accepting someone might have mild ADHD or whatever, at some point shouldn't that cease to factor into merit-based professional accomplishment? My buddy in law school had close to a genuine photographic memory, set the record for highest GPA in the history of our school,SCOTUS clerk. My memory is trash, probably even to the average, but obviously to his. Can I be accommodated? Where is the baseline and where is the floor - what mental/intellectual deficiencies can be used for qualifying*
*I say this as someone who understands the ADA framework, etc.

I am visually impaired from being a preemie. When I was going through the initial college steps, a social worker asked if I wanted to apply for more time on tests, etc.
I said no because I had graduated from high school and didn't need it. I graduated with a bachelor's degree and paid back my student loans.
These mf-ers today are soft as baby shite. I don't care if this is a Dear Facebook moment. Frick 'em.

One of my kids has OCD which was extremely severe from 7th - 10th grade. He was put on a plan by the school (they called us in to discuss) that allowed him extra time to take the ACT which resulted in him scoring a 34 and getting a full tuition scholarship offer from AU. Turned it down, went to Samford on a much smaller scholarship, and never tried to gain an advantage by claiming a disability in college. Will be a pharmacist in May and has his job secured but said it would have been much easier had he used the disability claim like a lot of his class has done with stuff that is not legit. Also admitted he would not know as much or be as well prepared had he taken the easy route. Fortunately, he is not competing for a residency where a 4.0 gpa is necessary to even be considered which is what he says drives a lot of the kids to make the claim to get extra test time.

A larger percentage is straight up retarded.

And here I was, with Muscular Dystrophy, at LSU climbing down 12 and 13 stories at Kirby Smith nightly because jackasses constantly set off the fire alarms at 2 am.
I really missed the boat.

Nothing bothers Oldmanbeasley more than people who abuse these systems that are designed to help people with serious disabilities like Oldmanbeasley’s slight to moderate case of cold weather induced asthma.

Law Schools will give you literally double the time if you claim even a slight disability. Which is so fricking annoying because time constraints are part of the difficulty of the test AND THEY GRADE EVERYONE ON THE SAME CURVE.
LSU had to crack down on it in 2016 when they realized that nearly every CALI award and almost the entire top 10%/law review clique had gotten extended time.

They haven’t cracked down or they relaxed the rules again after Covid. I had an injury so my 3L year I had to take a couple exams with the “disabled” in Middleton library. I knew some people were getting extra time but I had no idea how rampant it was. I didn’t know where exactly to go so I’m wandering around the 3rd floor of the library and I see a long line with damn near 3/4ths of the order of the coif. It was pretty ridiculous.

That actually tracks with the Stanford alum I know. All of them seem to have at least a touch of the tisms.

There was a pretty good article that came out a few weeks ago describing an entire industry that teaches vets how to exploit this to the highest degree possible.

They’re right. They have a disability called being a ****.

Just remember: When everyone is a victim or disabled, no one is.

So you're saying that a good amount of non-combat vets, well over 40%, claim and are awarded disability through the VA?
I'd love to see some statistics on that.

Stanford isn't exactly known for its trash graduates...
If anything, in a cynical and shitty way, this is probably more proof they're qualified. They're ruthlessly exploiting stupid rules for their own advantage. The real tell here is that some students yapped about it to a journalist... THAT's the sign they'll fall flat
Really just shows how much of a retarded grift most of these 'accessibility' initiatives are. And I'd wholeheartedly agree with you that the clowns creating them wouldn't hack it in the corporate world.

Imagine the cancellation and lawsuits that would arise if anyone tried to tell someone they were NOT disabled…

Victimhood has been firmly entrenched as a virtue in this country, so you are most certainly correct.
