I think I saw this on a Dateline NBC episode. Dude got life in prison for murdering his roommate who played loud music and threw his coat off the balcony.

This is important. Moving in with a total stranger was one of the best things I ever did. We are both cool headed mother frickers though and I’m about to be his best man.

Sleeping at the GF’s tonight.
I only play music when we’re drinking and about to go out. Usually EDM or rap.
I think the dude is on drugs or has a serious anger management problem. I’m going to let things chill for now but if he continues to act hostile I’ll go to the property manager. If he threatens me again, cops. If he takes a swing at me I’ll beat his arse but I’m not going to pick a fight with him.

You should start by apologizing to him for the lack of communication and being inconsiderate with your loud music, and that you'll make a serious effort to be a better roommate moving forward.
Follow that up by letting him know that if he ever makes another comment like that again that you will have him arrested.
He sounds like a weirdo that doesn't know how to handle conflict. You are not innocent. But he needs to know his damn role.
