Holy crap! If you can't get AT LEAST a week free to try a gym out, you have to be retarded. The gym I belong to offered me a month free when I went for the "tour". I liked it and said I wanted to join and they still insisted on giving me a month free.
I think the OP said the one he is using is 3 hours away from his home. The free trial usually doesn't fly if it is obvious you are from out of town and aren't planning on joining. Of course I guess he could have lied about his address and saved $20 or so.

i had all the curl bars removed from my Planet Fitness because i found them intimidating. I still get triggered by the curl machine but i fight through it.

Did you get anything at the snack bar?

Why not just do yard work, or fix stuff around the house? I do that normally, then think about jogging, but decide not to. Workout complete.

I hate PF as much as the next guy but that's my take on it as well. I just hate the pizza and donut days, and what they stand for. But it's an incredibly good deal and all of the PFs I've been to have all been immaculate for a gym, and enough equipment to get a good workout in if you adjust to not having a barbell.

^^^^^^^^This.
I guarantee most of the people here who rag on planet fitness have never stepped foot inside of one. Half probably don't even work out.
I have never heard the lunk alarm in the one I go to. They have very good equipment at a great price and there are plenty of people in very good shape at the one here.

at PF, do you have a "contract", or do you pay month to month?
I workout at home with resistance bands, but sometimes I kind of get in a funk and would like to use some weights/dumbbells. If I wanted to go for say 2 or 3 months, is that possible or are you locked in for a certain amount of time?

So you pay $10 up front and get a month? So if you dont' want to go anymore that's it, you don't have to "break" anything or pay some cancellation fee?
That's pretty convenient.

I've had the lunk alarm go off on my fat arse because I was doing skullcrushers
Other than that I have never really heard it either. Once in a while someone sets a dumbbell down kind of hard or something and they give what I call a "warning" alarm, they just kinda push the button to make it just "woo" for a split second as like a "hey, that was too much."
Anyway, I've been thinking about caving on my stance about their food friday bullshite because it's so cheap and there's one right next to work and right next to my house. I went for a few months with my cousin who had signed up so I got to go for free... I like that I can go there in the morning with a change of clothes and flip flops and shower there then go straight to work. I pay twice as much for my Snap membership and none of those have showers or lockers.

$10 is their single gym, no guests, no contract plan. For $20/mo you can go to any of their locations, bring a guest with you every workout, use the tanning beds, etc. Worth the extra $10/mo and contract imo

Same can be said for the Snap in New Roads. Let's face it, working out is what you make of it. Dedicate yourself to any endeavor and you'll probably be successful. Half arse it, and you'll get half assed results.

I have one kinda close to my office. I can go in at lunch and get a decent workout in. The dumbells go to 75lbs and thats enough for me.Smith Machines with plenty of 45 plates. Plenty of treadmills to get a run in. Ive never heard the alarm because its just grey hairs at the time I go. I've never seen pizza or I would eat it. 10 bucks a month cant beat it. I was paying 50 for the same thing at my other gym. You coon asses should like it .
1. its cheap
2. its purple and gold

They have no freeweight barbells, just smith machines. It really blows for someone who is used to barbells. I used to use barbells almost exclusively.

I'm still a bit confused about the LA. We're talking an actual alarm like with lights and sirens? When it goes off does everyone stop and look around, and a staff member comes up and gets onto you?

5 Man, I'm getting roasted in here.

There is a sign up fee - like $30 I think - then $10/month after that.

It's a big sign that says "lunk alarm" and has a blue light on the top. When they press a button at the front desk it lights up and sounds a siren. How loud it gets and how long it goes depends on how long they push the button.
The staff will only come talk to you about it if you're a repeat offender.
No, but it was 5AM and it was practically empty in there, and I was doing skullcrushers... they sounded the lunk alarm so I stopped doing them. I guess it's a dangerous lift so they say no? idk..

Of course it smells good. No one works out there for real.
It's possible to get in a good lift without shitting your pants.
