Yeah, they take the motto pretty seriously, which is weird to me.

I've seen people do moves incorrectly but if you say anything they can get you kicked out.

It may go up higher than 55. People put them back in the wrong order so it's hard to tell.

So what exactly would set off this "lunk alarm"?

I started going because it was only $10 per months, and I've found it to be a very good bargain.

The place does get shite on, but if you know your way around a gym you can get a great workout in.

Grunting, dropping weights, walking in wearing certain attire, etc.

Sometimes the alarm goes off and I look around to see what for because I didn't really hear or see anything.

Austin was being accused of “gymtimidation,” a cardinal sin at Planet Fitness, the national chain known for its hideous purple-and-yellow color scheme and equally jarring policies, such as “no grunting,” “no deadweights” and no “hardcore look-at-me-attitudes.” At Planet Fitness, such offenses trigger a gym-wide siren called “The Lunk Alarm”—“lunk” being the company’s term for “meathead”—complete with flashing blue lights and an ear-splitting noise that sounds disconcertingly similar to a firetruck.

I agree. Plenty of utility benches and dumbells. Lots of areas to stretch. Only one pullup station but I never see anyone use it but me.

From what I've heard it could be any number of reasons. Intimidating by lifting a lot of weight while grunting or moaning, basically making any noise while straining. Physically intimidating fat people by wearing muscle tees and making them feel shitty about themselves. I've been in the one in gonzales a few times and have never heard it. Have a good sized friend who works out at the one on seigen and has never had it go off for him.

Yeah, it's not for everyone. I personally prefer a gym where someone with more experience would give me some pointers/help.

But, lots of the guys/gals in there are pretty old.

Sounds like all you have to do is not be a douche bag. If youre working out there and using 75s on a bench, and youre grunting, and dropping the weights, then youre a douche bag. If youre some huge body builder reppin 120# dumbbells, i understand the grunting, but you still shouldnt be dropping the weights. And i wouldnt imagine huge arse body builders would go in a gym like that, anyway.

It's not a bad deal. I workout with my dad, and of course he hits it up at peak hours, but if you go at like 2 in the morning... There's only like 3 people there.

Bingo. I can't remember the last time that I heard the alarm go off. It's not a gym for hard core lifting. I've never understood why people bitch about a gym that they'll never go to.

They basically don't want you throwing weights.

If you just want people to notice you and to check out hot women then pay for your regular gym.
