I’m sorry Will, I know your pain as I lost my pal of over a decade last week. Prayers for you and your family.

For future reference, a tablespoon of salt poked down a dogs throat will make them vomit. My vet advised doing that to our dog he vomited quickly.

I cried at my dogs side while i put him down due to neurological issues but i had some time to brace myself.

It’s amazing what kind of bond we as people can have with our dogs.

Couldnt imagine this happening for me this quick. Praying for you and sorry for your loss.

I am very saddened to her of your sweet Izzy's passing. Prayers sent as she crosses the Rainbow Bridge.

Don't be hard on yourself. Don't let other posters comments bother you. You made a mistake. Move on.

My wife (no pics) and I have several dogs. Our pack are all rescues (the best breed). When the time is right, consider giving a neglected or abused pup or two from a shelter a loving home. They often take a bit more patience and work in the beginning, but are well worth it. Take care brother!

Damn. My heart breaks for you. There’s really nothing I can say to make it better, but you have to forgive yourself. Stay strong.

Why on earth would you not immediately bring the dog to the emergency vet?? Accidents happen, but not doing everything you can to save your pup, especially when you were the one to leave the bottle out, is mind blowing to me.

I’m so sorry, Will. I’m concerned about you now, internet friend. You have a LOT of weight on your shoulders, a lot of grief and heaviness to bear. Please stay strong and know that He is with you now as are all of us. Don’t isolate and don’t blame yourself. I believe you will be reunited. You were his human and that love is still there and I want you to remember that and get comfort from that.

Lean on us if you need us.

Sounds like you are doing a good job of being proactive.

Other than keeping the pills in a reasonable place to where a dog or child couldn't get them, I guess you're right.

man I hate to hear stuff like this, sorry for your loss

I knew tylenol was toxic to dogs but didn't know aspirin was too.

Having lost several, I'm sure your dog knew and was comforted by the fact that you were with her at the end.

OP I didn’t comment in your thread yesterday but I lost a dog the same way. A sweet 4 year old lab. It hurts but you have to forgive yourself. We are humans not robots

Awful news, Will. So sorry to hear of Izzy's passing.

As other posters have stated, please forgive yourself. It was an accident, pure and simple. Grieve properly and remember that Izzy had a great life.

Prayers sent for you my man. Take care and God bless.
