I would love to see Alex turn it around and offer some good schools.

Me too but unless your kids attend a true ghetto school or some elite private school, I firmly believe that family structure and stability are better predictors of success than which school they attend

I have no illusions that Alex going to get better. Neither me nor my wife ever thought we would move back. But priorities change.

It's kind of mind blowing how little they have done to attract quality companies to the area. My best guess is that the folks that have power or own most of the land there are content with the way things are.

Well. On a good note, it can’t be worse than Caddo Parish. So you have that going for you.

Forgot about Country Day, yeah that's a solid option. I went to Nachman, Country Day, and Menard. I would be hesitant to send my kids to the public schools these days. My nephew went to Brame and ASH and came out talking like Eminem

Can’t speak for it now, but Country Day was an amazing childhood experience. I am still very close with my group of friends from there much moreso than my high school group. Had some amazing teachers that made a major impact on my life. There were some elite folks that went through those halls. One I hungout with last weekend who is a big dick attorney in London closing deals on the Rome and Bologna airport purchases

I also forgot about Country Day. Add that to our options for my youngest.

Where do you guys buy groceries? Kroger?

My wife drives all the way to Alex just for Kroger.
Town and Country still there.

I can't give you any insight on the schools. Avoyelles Parish has our own hurdles with that.

so if you do need to go see a specialist, its a pretty easy drive to Laffy or BR or Shreveport

Driving back and forth to those cities is great for cancer treatments. The drive helps keep your mind off things.

I’ve always heard Pineville is way nicer and more family-friendly than Alexandria. Maybe try moving there.

We already have the house and land. Its in the country.

Alex will just be the closest "city" for us to do things.

Daaaamn. I'm familiar with the Spurgeon family. Sam also was picked up for illegal bow hunting in 2023.

Both me and my wife value family. And we have an opportunity to move closer so my kids can have better and deeper relationships with their grandparents and cousins. And for me and my wife to help take care of our parents as they age.

The end! Do it, enjoy your time, make it great!! Life is short, and I cannot agree with you and your wife more.

I was born in Pineville and lived across the street from Louisiana College until I hit 2nd grade.

Those 7 years of my life were probably the best of my life.

My dad got a better job in the oilfield and we moved to Terrebonne parish.

Whenever I pass through Ellick I get an irrational feeling of fear , mainly because it has changed so much.

The reason there isn’t much in CenLa is because that’s where the gheys live.

Most everyone just drives past it but occasionally, someone decides to go there and they are never seen or heard from again
