The problem with that is it’s not what consumers want. Most people hate counter-service. They want to sit down and be served.
I prefer non fast food counter service places. Totally happy to get up and get my food. I like paying up front. Usually still tip a buck or two.

70% of Mississippi is on welfare
20% is on meth
and 10% is just trying to get their business to survive

There's been a big trend in bigger cities towards counter service even for nicer and higher end restaurants.
I love it personally

But what about mah tips?
We went to zippy's recently. When you pay, the default tip options at the register are 20%, 25%, & 30%.
For those of you who aren't familiar, you stand in a line and order own food as soon as you walk in. Many items are made in front of you (tacos, queso, burritos, etc), and you have to carry them to your table yourself. You fill your own drink (soft drinks) and go to the bar to get your booze. The waitstaff will bring you your food IF you order something they don't make immediately at the intake. But why the frick are they asking for 30% tips when I'm doing the work? I tip even at a counter line like this, but that 'service' isn't worth 20%, much less 30%. I don't even know who is getting the tips. It's ridiculous.

bullshite. We had an appetizer and meal. Half of those two hours were spent sitting there with empty glasses and finished plates sitting in front of us. Never should happen when spending nearly $300 for a meal.
