What do y'all think about signing up for the waitlist if you aren't in a high risk group? A few people I know have been able to get a shot by calling up a clinic and asking to be put on the standby list in case there's a cancellation and they need to give them out before expiration.

Scummy move because you're "jumping the line?" Or just making sure a dose doesn't go to waste due to bureaucratic rules?

Once the vile has been thawed it has to be used or thrown away. Better you use it than it be completely wasted

They have to throw them away so it’s best to use than to lose

I’m 63. Got my second shot Friday by using the very same method.

Called, got on list, got stuck next day. They also took another half dozen people that I referred to them.

Get on a list and be available for cancellations.

Every location has holes in the schedule. I see no issue with it if there are openings available.

I could have gotten one in Phase 1 since I’m a healthcare worker. I refused, because 1) I already had it and it was nothing and 2) There are people that need it more than me.

I read somewhere that only 12.5 percent of Alabama adults had received the first shot.

Undoubtably, some of that is because vaccines are still being produced and distributed still.

But if only 50 percent of adults are willing to get the vaccine and the vials will expire and ruin soon, why not get one yourself?

If you are offered the shot and want it you should take it.

Vaccine shaming is on the long list of dumb shite that's come around the past year.

The problem in my eyes is doses having to be wasted. I have no issue with anyone getting the vax on a standby list.

If you see the supply is outweighing the demand, then have at it

This. I’m in North Carolina and my wife is a teacher. The teacher unions have been bitching and screaming for vaccines and now that they are in line the state and school districts are begging for teachers to make appointments. My wife says there are thousands available everyday. They are quickly moving on to the next group here in NC.

I don’t qualify to get it in Louisiana so I drove to Biloxi last week to get it. ZFG.
