What in the Name of The Rose is that?

You think Obamas library is a masterpiece of design
Nope, it's ironic it's supposed to represent 4 hands coming together in unity but it comes across as brutalust which I know has become trendy the last few years but is still an architecture style that is anti people.

I think "The Name of The Rose" might be a good companion read for this subject.

Are there any monkdomes that allow sex with women? That's the one I want.

I don't think so. I think the play is to be a Catholic Monk until you burn out, quit, marry a former nun, then start your own church.

It's not as elaborate but the Benedictine monks have a place in Subiaco, Arkansas. They make hot sauce.

Just so you guys know Carmelites are. I started a little essay:
1 Timothy 2:5
"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus."
From its origins on Mount Carmel in the twelfth century, the Carmelite Order has presented itself as the Order of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Mount Carmel. Its spirituality, devotions, and identity are profoundly Marian—so much so that the order cannot be understood apart from the figure of Mary.
This defining Marian orientation raises a fundamental question: does the Carmelite Order, in its devotional system, function as a Marian cultus—that is, a system of organized religious veneration centered on Mary rather than on the Triune God revealed in Scripture?
Yes.
That the Carmelite Order embodies the essential features of a cultus—object, acts, and promises of devotion—directed to Mary in ways that conflict with biblical worship and the exclusivity of Christ’s priestly office.
Christ’s exclusive role as mediator arises from His unique person—the God-man who reconciles sinners through His atoning death and priestly intercession (Hebrews 7:24–27; 9:24). No creature, however holy, can share in that office without diminishing its sufficiency.
The Carmelite claim that Mary is “Mediatrix of all graces” directly contradicts this text. Scripture nowhere teaches that grace is dispensed through Mary’s intercession. Instead, “from His fullness we have all received, grace upon grace” (John 1:16). Christ Himself is the sole fountain of grace; His Spirit applies it sovereignly. To look to Mary as channel or mediator is therefore to introduce a second mediator—something Scripture explicitly forbids.
Abject heretics with a pretty building in an earthly paradise.

Same here. I love my wife and kids and life ; but when I go to my Jesuit retreat center and see the simple yet “you’re taken care of” life they live; I would have given the religious vocation a way closer look.
