A mom sued the Webster Parish School District on Monday with help from the American Civil Liberties Union alleging unconstitutional and pervasive promotion of Christianity in schools.
The lawsuit alleges more than 30 specific incidents of unconstitutional use of religion in schools, including science teachers calling evolution a "fairy tale," teachers waving a Bible at students while criticizing a card game, and teachers punishing or criticizing students who refused to participate in classroom prayers.
....
More allegations from Cole's lawsuit:
When Kaylee was a first-grader at Central Elementary School in Webster Parish, a teacher grabbed a boy's shirt and pushed him into the hallway because the student sat down when a Christian prayer was read over the school's PA system.
In 2011, Ana Cole-Lopez and other students witnessed two teachers at Central Elementary, Kim Austin and Donna Strickland, telling students that the card game "Magic: The Gathering" was "against the Bible" and "of the Devil." One of the teachers waved a Bible at the students.
Then-Lakeside Principal and now Webster Superintendent Johnny Rowland is alleged to have told Kaylee and Ana's father, Michael Simpson, in 2014 that he refused to stop daily prayers at school. "I will stop when someone makes me stop," Rowland allegedly said.
Current Lakeside Principal Denny Finley expressed anti-Muslim sentiments while teaching an American History class in 2015.
Christian rapper Mynista has been invited to Lakeside three of the past four years to perform at an assembly or pep rally. The rapper encouraged students to turn to God as their inspiration. Student attendance was mandatory.
Students harassed Kaylee for sitting during a morning prayer. A classmate called Kaylee her names and another mocked her by saying "Devil, be rid of me!" Her teacher did not stop the mocking.

That doesn't seem wrong if the girl goes by multiple names...

America is a Christian nation. If this lady doesn't like that she should move

Yikes
I'm not sure who is worst, those who force Creationism or the morons who push Evolution as fact.

One day, she is going to show up as somebody's worst kiss in a future TD thread. Probably that principal's.

Sounds like a strong case against the school. Pretty sickening to use bullying tactics on a child because they don't want to be part of a cult.

"Ms. Cole was raised as a Baptist and deeply values her religious beliefs," the lawsuit says. "She objects to and is offended by Defendants' conduct because it promotes beliefs to which she and her daughter do not subscribe, co-opts her faith for official government purposes, promotes religious favorites, and usurps her role."
"I believe that praying in public is a sin and that our religious faith is between us and God. The government simply has no business strong-arming my daughter into practicing a certain faith.”
Science teachers told students in a class attended by Kaylee's older sister, Ana Lopez-Cole, that evolution is not real, according to the lawsuit.
"The teachers told students that they believe in Adam and Eve, not the Big Bang," the lawsuit alleges. "One science teacher told Ana's class that evolution is a 'fairytale.'"

I was ready to be against her, but the reasons cited were valid.

People still play magic?
I have about 500 cards from 1996. I wonder if they're still good.

That should not be allowed in a school taking tax dollars.

It's about as close to a scientific fact as you can get.

I will never understand the obsession some have with getting elements of Christianity into public school classrooms.
Honestly, it'd be one thing if a teacher was countering a history curriculum hostile to Christianity with lessons about the positive role of Christianity or something.
But morning prayers over the intercom? Why?
