all of that

in my 20s, before marriage and even after marriage (pre kid), I exercised constantly

I was 6'2" 170 lbs, 6 pack, 7:30 mile marathon, etc

Add a kid...I just don't have time to commit to that much working out anymore

Am I fat? Of course not, but I've gained about 20 lbs in 3.5 years since the kid

I still work out most days, but I work in my garage and have to stop every 5 minutes to watch my daughter do something (Daddy watch this!) or take her to the bathroom or kill a bug or whatever else you can think of

if I want to run, it is either at night (like around 9 pm) or I have to wake up at 4:30 am...not fun

basically...it is much more of a commitment to stay fit with a family than it is as a single person or even as a couple with no kids, so maybe hold off on the lecture until you are in the actual situation

I did tell you why. You immediately discounted it. You are wholly self- satisfied and the theme of your threads are to tell those you imagine don't live well how to live well. Where to vacation, how to stay attractive to your spouse, etc. It's not that I don't like you or even agree with you, it's that I recognize the relentless hubris of youth. You will change and your perspective will change and you will be embarrassed by what you thought you knew. There is a forest there behind that tree you are pointing at.

I don't think it's a conscious decision to get fat. Life happens. When you start having kids you have less time for everything else. Plus as you get older the metabolism slows. It happens to everyone. You have to really work to stay in shape.

But, why do you give a frick what other people do?

Also during that time frame your body goes through some serious changes. Testosterone lessons, metabolism slows down ect... I'm guilty of gaining some serious weight in the past 4 years, but now that my kids are older I have started to live a healthier life. Eating better (cutting out soft drinks) and setting aside at least 20-30 min a day to get a jog in. If I can do that for an entire year, and make it be my new life style in time things will be better. It's been 3 weeks I already feel a lot better, and clothes are starting to fit like they should.

I can remember being 35 and thinking that if I just keep running/moving/ being high energy I could hold the aging process off. Yeah. Right.

Yeah, and your reasoning was poor. But we can't even have a proper discussion because you're too wordy and long-winded. You get lost in your own self-righteous arguments. Again, discussing the themes of my threads, as if it's relevant to this discussion. It's not.

Let me help you: "you'll be older some day and will be wiser from your experiences." This may be true, but it's not a counterpoint to my point. Your "wisdom" hasn't benefited you much if this is the basis for all of your arguments.

You are extremely myopic. You are convinced you have it all figured out, and you are extremely proud of yourself for supposing that you have figured it all out. You ask questions, but have no interest in answers. It's the conceit of the shallow person, we see it demonstrated on every one of your threads. You are awesome and you need us all to understand this. You should throw yourself a ticker-tape parade.

This is still not a response to the topic.

You're overly concerned with me.

I stay in shape and keep myself presentable in the off chance we get divorced. You never know when you're going back on the market.

Because they are about to leave and get back on the market that's why.

Here, I'll help you:

Point (me): People shouldn't let themselves become unhealthy just because they have increased responsibilities as they become older

Counterpoint(lsupimp): You're too young to understand. People die. Hair gets thinner. You can't stay young forever.

Counterpoint(me): I never said any of those things. You can still be healthy regardless of age

Counterpoint(lsupimp): You think you have it all figured out. People can only do the best with what they are given.

Counterpoint(me): That's all I'm asking. Do the best with what you're given. Eat healthy and stay in shape. We see this all the time with people of all ages. It's not easy but it's a sacrifice to take care of your body

Counterpoint(lsupimp): You will learn as you get older. You just don't understand because all of your threads have a similar theme. You are young and foolish

Counterpoint(me): You're not making a strong case.

Counterpoint(lsupimp): You are young and foolish!

Random person: He answered your question

Counterpoint(me): His response had nothing to do with the topic

definitely isn't hard to do and I myself am guilty of it. Get an office job working 10 hour days and you don't feel like doing shite when you get home but drink a beer and unwind. Couple that with a few kids and a ton of shite to do around the house and not enough daylight and you are suddenly out of time for yourself. The motivation level to workout drops way down the priority list. When i was in college it was easy to find two hours a day to spend in a gym. Now not so much

This is the answer. If you're employed full time and your kids are active and you're actually involved with your kids, there is little to no time to work out.

I am 57 and have been married 34 years. 6'1" and 175 lbs. Been in a size 32 x 34 pants since 1978. People tell me how "lucky" I am. Screw them. I take care of myself, always have. My wife and I give ourselves at least an hour a day to workout. Has become part of life. No time, bs, make time. It is just an hour. Point is most reasons not to exercise is just that, an excuse. You want to be a slob then be one. I am not judging, that decision is yours. But if you want to get in shape and feel better then stop with the excuses. And btw we had three kids and now have 6 grandkids, we both work and I work 12 hr days as an RN.

With all that said, good luck and God Bless.
