Can’t just be a raise. Need to directly compare COL, then take a raise on top of that COL difference. If you don’t, you can take a 25% raise to move from LA to CA and actually take a COL reduction in pay. I’ve had a couple companies try to pull that crap. “Oh this is a huge raise for you.” No it ain’t, my mortgage would cost 2-3x what it does here, plus higher COL for everything else

If I could just maintain what we're making now I'd move in a heartbeat.
Unfortunately, the wife and I have a very rare setup and would take a huge financial hit moving.

have to replace my income and my wifes income plus 50% plus pay for the move.
before my wife had the business....would have been different. hard to just get up and move now, in fact impossible.

Depends where, what industry, the market in said industry etc.
Also, depends on the family situation. I’m married with two little ones, and currently am lucky enough to have my parents and the in laws living in the same town as us. There’s some things that no amount of money would be able to cover. My children spending quality time with their grandparents is probably the biggest thing.
If I were single and had no children? It probably wouldn’t take much, to be honest.

I kept the same job and moved 2o minutes away. I work offshore so it doesn't matter. The motivation was the way managers act in my org. Got rid of a huge house note and they can all lick my taint now. I just show up and exist.

Given my area is transforming into a desert I’ll pay someone for an offer to move.

I may be moving from Baton Rouge to Houston because of my wife’s job. The real kicker was the stock is why we are considering doing it.
Not looking forward from going from 2.6% mortgage to 7%

Amen, brother.
Had an opportunity for almost a 100% increase to go from NOLA to Dallas and my wife couldn’t pull the trigger.
The hold this state has on its women is wild.

Some of that's going to depend on the difference in cost of living between the two places. I'm working on getting a good pension so it would need to be a significant bump for me to even begin to consider moving.

Depends on which part of the country and if I'd even live there but 20% oughta be fair.

This is my exact scenario. It’s a 100k bump with all moving expenses paid but that I just bought a house that is annoying. No kids have fiancé who can pay etc but

I am not going to lie, I just moved from Oxford to Ocean Springs, MS and took a 20% pay cut. But, the new job is incredibly more flexible and less burdensome. After ten years of killing myself 12 hours a day, the move for a six hour per day job has been amazing. I feel physically healthier, mentally better and have time to do things I want to do - exercise, hang out with friends, etc. THere are a lot of things to consider.

depends on where im going but currently given my current workload/stress and lifestyle i would say no less than 25%.
i would consider somewhat less (10-15%) if it was at an institution i really wanted to be part of and was in a highly desirable area for me.

I got a 50% raise to move to a much better place with a much less stressful job, absolute no brainer

Define "across country" relative to BR. Could mean a few different directions with lots of variables included.
