CAD- you go to JH for elementary?
guilty. For my first 9 years of school, actually.

B&B Burger, Mike's quick stop, napoli pharmacy, big star and the superette pretty much made up the entirety of my world back in those days.

And yes the woods behind JH were glorious.

I agree and feel the same way. However, I was raised blue collar in public schools. I bet the over schools were similar back then to your kid’s.

Maybe you’re succeeding!

Kids today are pussies though.

saw a paystub once. My old man made $9k a year in the 1970s as a lineman for South Central Bell.

We weren't eating at the Kings table back then for sure.

Went K-6. They had already moved the junior high to OJHS by the time I came through. It was a great school back then. Drive through the neighborhood occasionally. Napoli pharmacy. Great people. His youngest was a classmate and friend. Another former classmate is now the principal there.

Exactly. We had shotguns on the gun racks in our trucks when we went to high school......those quick Dove and Rabbit hunts after practice were some good times.

—WRONG. Our society has gone to the dumpster. If you don’t know that, you’re very young.

Ride the bus

This has gotten completely out of control.

My dad said when he was in school, the bus made one stop per neighborhood, at the front of it. It didn’t matter if you lived in the back, you had to walk your arse or have your parents drive you to the stop.

When I was growing up, the bus made a couple stops throughout the neighborhood at main streets.

Nowadays, they stop at every. Single. frickin. House.

I went to JH for a couple years. My son had a soccer game there and it’s crazy what it looked like. Barb wire on the fences and such. Used to love the snow cone stand by the pharmacy

Well, then, mom wouldn’t be able to show off her new ride. That’s not acceptable.

This is true. My kids started riding the bus this year. Their school is a couple miles from the house and it takes them an hour to get home in the afternoons. But, it helps alleviate my mom having to pick them up from school on days my wife works so it's worth it.

why?

1) why would i want my kid to go to a school that uses buses? Why would I ever want my kid to deal with Gen Pop losers who don't care about school? Private schools dont usually provide buses and why would I want my kid to go to a government school, especially in elementary?

2) why would I want my kid that is 10 or 11 to ride a bike across busy streets with drivers on their phones everywhere? A lot of private schools dont even allow kids to ride bikes

this is whats wrong with this state....its a you must do it like I did it 30 years ago mentality. Its why we never progress

Yeah, and he can't relate to them, he can only relate to his own life experience.

It's the way of the world. You'll understand one day when you stop taking online forums so seriously and find a pretty little midget gal to marry.

That shouldn't be hard for you to understand if you weren't a perpetually bitter, insecure little bitch who's always angry behind your screen. Try to keep up (not physically, obviously, but you can figure it out).

he cant relate because his parents were shite parents just like many in that day but some how we thought they were great

got idiots on here acting like going to kids sports and spending time with them is weird because their parents didnt.

got idiots on here celebrating sending their kids to public schools so they get to ride the bus...wtf?

got idiots on here poopooing the idea that kids arent riding bikes 2-3 miles to school across traffic and talking about kids being pussies....or how about we learned that is not that good of an idea.

yea lets celebrate our parents not speaking to us until dinner...lets act like that was a good thing!!!

how does your kids school experience differ from yours?

Not much.

Other than I rode the bus home because school was very rural and a 20 minute drive (hour on the bus) and my kids are picked up by my wife, all pretty much the same.

Get home. Snack. Homework. Play. Dinner. Bath. Bed.
