re: Controversial Opinion - Teachers don’t deserve pay raises

Scrolled to the bottom so not replying to you RealTigerHorn.
I’m a PE teacher at the top scoring middle school in our area. I’m also the athletic director and head football coach. We are the largest MS in our parish. We have wonderful teachers and some pretty great administrators, too. I knew the pay wouldn’t be great going in. Mom was a teacher at an inner city school. I started out my career in High School at a private school. The pay was much worse with no health benefits or retirement.
I have been in this parish for 16 years. I am at a great school and I love my job. I know that others have it worse off than me. However, society has made a teacher’s job much harder because there is very little at home training. Kids are out of control. They use profane language, are disrespectful to adults, and they have no respect for their peers or school property.
Recently I took on a bus route because the bus driver quit. It’s pretty good money so I said why not. These kids are awful.
The biggest thing I can take away from public education is that there is no incentive for the good teachers and coaches to go the extra mile. You don’t get paid any more. However, at my school, I see our teachers and coaches doing it consistently. Because they are good people who want it done the right way. They go the extra mile and hell yes we deserve to be paid more for it.

I agree not necessarily younger. Get the best baseball coach you can. Someone willing to put the work in and develop kids. Shouldn’t be hard to find someone great that wants the job. Great resources, facilities, and tradition.

I’ll preface this by saying I hate the bat flips. BUT, the color guy for Ruston, the same one that was laughing at the kid when the pitch was thrown at his head, said he threw the bat 40 feet in the air. Just watched the video of the home run and he clearly did not throw it 40 feet in the air. The bat was flipped barely over his head.
Ruston people act so holier than thou, clutching their pearls.
HS kids do stupid things, even Ruston kids. Hell was it Hudson(may have been another kid I don’t remember) who was taunting the WM sideline this year in football and resulted in giving WM another chance to win the game?

They had 2 this year. Receiver that signed with Washington and Offensive Lineman who signed with Tulane. IMO both could play at LSU. They also have a lineman who was on LSU’s roster this year.

And we’re supposed to believe that Neville turned this kid away and wouldn’t give his dad a job?! Ha!
Go cry in your styrofoam cup. Get them chains untangled and that down box cleaned up real good. Football season will be here before you know it.

He’s lived in West Ridge zone for years (his older brother attended West Ridge and graduated from WM) so your “shopping around” comment is interesting. His brother was not into sports. With his dad being head coach at Carroll Junior and now MLK I’m sure he would’ve been at West Ridge earlier if not wanting to play for his dad.

2010 Tacoma. 119,000 miles. 16 years in April. It’s been a great truck but I’ve wanted a new one for about 5 years. But don’t want a truck note even more.

I thought I was past the stage of putting things together on Christmas Eve. My wife determined that was a lie…and told me today at about 3:00.

Think I may have seen that signature once and thought what a weirdo.
Friendly reminder emails
Posted by LeviGarrett on 10/28/25 at 9:19 pm
Why do people have to send out friendly reminder emails? Happens all the time at work and more times than not by the same person. Bugs the shite out of me. If you have to say “friendly reminder” then it ain’t friendly. Just say what you really mean “hey dumbasses don’t forget about that shite that’s due this week”

Poor pitiful Neville only 800 students. It’s not the quantity it’s the quality. How many different schools did you pull your current freshmen from?

I think we were in 2nd or 3rd grade when two of my friends decided to climb to the top of two trees that were near the road on the football field. Took a bit for principal to talk them down

Went K-6. They had already moved the junior high to OJHS by the time I came through. It was a great school back then. Drive through the neighborhood occasionally. Napoli pharmacy. Great people. His youngest was a classmate and friend. Another former classmate is now the principal there.

re: Coastal Carolina…subtle cheaters

Admittedly I did not watch Coastal in any games this year but against LSU, but did y’all notice the balls the catcher missed because he was so worried about framing pitches. Happened several times in the finals. I guess the risk was worth the reward of stealing 225 pitches. I’d also like to see a graph of balls he just straight up missed or mishandled because of it.
re: is there anything more dangerous than a coonass with a YT account?

My 10 year old cracked up every time at the happy birthdays and all the commercials and she wanted me to get him to shout out her birthday. He’s much appreciated. Was able to catch almost all of the games thanks to him.

Great young man from a great family. Has always done it the right way. Never been a showboat.
re: Peyton Todd no longer on football roster

He was phenomenal in high school. Not just at booming punts but he also was able to have pretty good touch (I guess that’s what you call it for a punter) at placing punts inside the 10 or even 5 yard line more than I’ve ever seen from a high school punter.
He’s a great young man who represented LSU with class. I hate that he did not have the success that we all thought he would.
