"Don't be a part of a problem, be a part of the solution!!"
So his part of the solution was to resign. Okay.

the power is out because of retards like this guy and other government officials didn't prepare. People are without service not because of demand, but because they let stations freeze when we knew about this weather 2 weeks ago.
Why rely on the government?
Haven’t we learned how incompetent they are?

Actually, if you are a customer and they are a provider and you have entered into a contract to provide you with electricity or other utilities, it is not an unreasonable expectation that they provide said product or service to you.
ETA: Those customers also pay taxes and fees for the service and upkeep of the infrastructure that provides the damn utilities. Again, it is not unreasonable to expect competent service. Customers have a right to be pissed. They also have a need for some understanding.

I agree with him about every day life sure. I don't think castigating customers who want the power and water that they pay bills for each month are piningbfor handouts and an expansion of the welfare state.
Dude had the right message and delivered it at the completely wrong time. I also assume yall prep for disasters of this sort more readily than we have to in KY.

If you read the service agreement you will find statements regarding inclement weather. As long as they have linesmen staged and out when safe, then you can’t really complain. The bigger problem is the lack of tee maintenance around lines.

Bigger than that is Texas digging itself into a hole decades ago with its standalone power grid. This shite may never happen again in any of our lifetimes. But right now it has bit them in the arse.

You know when I was a young person I never imagined being a white person would be as profoundly embarrassing as it is here in the 21st century

I definitely support the guy who quit his job in the middle of crisis and went on a rant on social media.
Imagine if every time some shite went sideways at your job one of your coworkers quit midway through and then blasted the rest of the office for shirking their responsibility.

The second post is basically a greatest hits album of weak excuses public figures use when called out on their bullshite:
1. "I tried to keep my mouth shut before running it in a poorly thought out rant on social media."
2. "The things I wrote in a statement that was short enough to be read in its entirety were taken out of context."
3. "I didn't mean the people who really need help, but I did mean the ones who aren't true Scotsmen."
4. "I'm resigning my office, but I wasn't going to run for re-election anyway so, nyah."
5. "I can't believe some of you got so angry over what I said in my statement that began with the phrase 'Let me hurt some feelings while I have a minute.'"
6. "I would never harass your families, people I just got done calling weak, poorly-raised, and foolish."
BTW, people have to start learning what the words "socialism," "communism," and "fascism" actually mean if we're going to insist on using them to describe other people. Here's a hint: expecting the power company to provide you with electricity you pay for isn't socialist.

We sorta had that happen at a place I worked years ago.
A pretty important employee had a dispute with a more important employee and they were hastily terminated in
a heated exchange, getting an escort off site.
Within hours, they took to email as a way to blast their side of the story and rant in general. They CCd a bunch of employee email addresses. Was a scramble for IT folks to block several of their external email addresses while attorneys scrambled to get them to stop.

IDK about all that. If I pay for a service or say insurance, then that service should come through.. no matter what.
Yeah I thought I was missing something. If I pay for a fricking service then I expect the service to be provided. Of course there are extenuating circumstances but how the fuq is that a handout?
