Despite higher charges for “maintenance” of trees across lines in the area, it was found after two major storms (summer and winter) that part of the reason we saw such a large, extended power outage was LG&E failed to maintain trees in the easement that were hanging over wires. When they were damaged due to wind or ice, it took out a ton of lines. If they had been cut back, it would’ve reduced the outage time and spread in both storms.
I would get it if it was about the power lines being down, but it’s not. We don’t have enough power and now a lot of houston doesn’t have water.
This is a massive shite show

I remember when God got mad at New Orleans for having too many tax assessors, and His almighty hand of wrath forced people to flee the city. He did not even allow them time to even clean their refrigerators out. So you can't mess with this stuff.

Should people have a backup plan? Sure.
But is it too much to ask for the utilities you pay out of the arse for to have a better infrastructure to at the very least soften the blow?
Right, and most people have generators, water, chopped wood to prep for a storm. Not like everyone was sitting around waiting on the storm. Prep only goes so far, and if I pay for a service then yeah it better freaking work.

frick that dude. He should get thrown out.
Yes, idiot, the city DOES owe its residents utilities that they pay and are taxed to support....you fricking clown
Now, wanting power is a handout?
What an idiotic post for him. His job description is "to serve"

Yeah, his argument would be a lot more reasonable if it'd come from someone who isn't, you know... the fricking mayor.

I cut up a lot of firewood the past 2 days and I bought several cases of water.
thats great and all, but who tf living in the city has access to firewood to cut up? any houstonians hiking down to buffalo bayou to fill buckets up buckets of water to bring home? this mayor is a joke and deserves everything he put on himself

He's right, but his cancellation is coming.
So you don’t think tax dollars should be utilized for events such as this?
Can you account for every penny that your taxes go towards and confidentially say that there is no way these folks should get help?

Most people do similar, it’s the reasons 1000’s aren’t dead. People are bitching about paying 350 a month for electricity, and having incompetent people running the system. Lots of people can cut down wood errrrrrr tough man. Wtf lol.
It wasn’t just cutting down wood, it was being prepared for the event in every way possible to lessen the blow. When Katrina rolled in, I didn’t see people bitching that the power was out and your $350 went down the drain. It was a “once in 50 year” scenario,,and I don’t think anyone with a brain thought the power would be restored in a couple of days. The destruction was too widespread. You don’t think that this storm was any different in the fact utilities aren’t going to be interrupted by this overwhelming event? I’ll stop you before you say “so this was on par with Katrina lol? Hell no and things will be restored much quicker. All I’m saying is everyone should be as prepared as possible. Did many prepare? Yes and kudos for those that did. They aren’t bitching and crying on social media. Did many, MANY more find themselves with their pants around their ankles and their thumb in their arse? I’d say so. Could the mayor have done a better job with a PSA beforehand with this warning, before taking to social media and bitch at everyone? Yep.
I’m not callus to peoples hardships and I really do hate it for the people truly suffering, I’m just saying it’s better to be OVER prepared for this type of event.

Must be too much to ask of the raging Karens on Facebook to shut their holes about crews "butchering" the trees when they do.

A cold snap in February isn’t a 50 year scenario.Texans should be pissed off at how poorly this shite has been managed
Some snow and cold temps has brought the state to its knees.

First on the list is the people is who we pay to provide energy
My wife and I prepared, but we prepared to be in the house a few days due to ice on the road. Not widespread outages and no water
Luckily we had hurricane shite laying around.

We need to stop the practice of getting butthurt about something someone says, then costing them their jobs.
I agree in principle. But sometimes a person’s words prove they are not qualified for a certain job.
Firing someone because they prove they are not qualified, is not “canceling” them.
And I thought this person was the mayor of a town. Apparently that is incorrect.

This guy is full of shite. Either that or each one of y’all complaining about power outages is full of shot and you ought to fix it yourself.
