Just scanned direct flights on Priceline from MSY to LAX, this evening, and to upgrade from Basic Economy to First Class on Delta flight is $200.

If the flight was booked last minute the economy ticket could have been $1500. Upgrading to first class at that point cost only cost $130 more at that point.

If that's the case, then why are they flying last minute?

Either way, she and her staff are doing a very poor job of managing the people's money.

Cantrell paid the additional $130 to cover the cost of the upgrade to first-class from the economy ticket.

I’m guessing they are pricing fully refundable economy fares or some other high dollar fare class that is closer to the first class price.

Or they are just lying.

It’s likely they are just lying.

This wouldn’t be an issue if the taxpaying citizens of NOLA would just get her a private jet!

That's really good. Does 1st class suck on Delta? Can you see what type of plane? Some seat upgrades aren't all that great.

First class msy to lax is likely just a bigger seat, upgraded snacks and priority boarding.

It's not the same as coast to coast or international first class.

I fly about the same on United (granted not LA) and have seen economy sold out with first available but as others have said, it aint going for a $130 "upgrade". Thats the bullshite.

If it's "close in" like she said, elite upgrades should start processing opening up seats in the back of the plane. They usually leave a couple of F seats until the flight goes under gate control, but it's not gonna be $130 difference. How do they even know the difference if economy is "Sold Out"

This is my DFW-JFK flight in a couple of weeks. First has been sold out for a while but there are still lots of seats in Economy

Delta historically has higher priced airfare and more reasonable upgrades. They also upgrade Frequent Fliers for free much less than other airlines since most people, myself included, buy up if the pricing is reasonable

$130 for a first class upgrade on a last minute booked flight? LMAO. NO way in hell.

A flight in mid July from Nola to LA is $367 for basic economy and $847 for first class.

I was wondering about that myself. For $130 difference I'd probably fly first class every time I fly.

The city is flush with cash now that they no longer spend much on law and order.

Thing is, if economy is sold out she isn't upgrading. She is buying a first-class ticket and "paying the fare difference out of her pocket". bullshite that $130 would be the difference and no way to check that.

Exactly, you can't "Compute the difference" when there isn't an economy seat
