I would love to know if the rumors are true that Gruver was essentially forced on Phi Delt after not receiving any bids.

I thought I remember seeing something about his mom communicating with someone in the frat that they better allow Max a join... not sure if there was any truth to that.

This is fricking stupid. You don't think that there are times when the activities that go on in a fraternity cross over the line into being criminal?

Is it a war or frats or there is finally action being taken against frats?

When a freshman in college... a 17-18 year old.. Rushes then gets into a frat, while they are responsible for their own actions to some degree, there is a lot of peer pressure on them to go to the extremes. You think that should just be overlooked?

I would argue Max Gruver got fricked.

He's going to serve approximately 6 months on a 30 month sentence.

Question for you...drug dealer distributes a shitload of fentanyl but says it's cocaine. 10 people snort it and die. Should the dealer just get charged with possession/distribution and nothing else

I hand you a gun and you know it is loaded.

I tell you to point it at your face and pull the trigger.

you do it and die

do I get charged with murder?

So everyone who encourages a drunk person to drink more is equivalent to someone goading a suicidal person to kill themself. I see.

In this case the encouragement rose to the level of negligence.

It's clearly more than me encouraging my buddy to take a shot after our team wins a game (and I would also make sure my buddy wasn't in a coma and was still breathing).

5 years. 2.5 suspended. Likely paroled early,at most will do what 85% of 2.5. Has to stay out of trouble for 2.5 years.

Seems reasonable to me.

Likely depends on my mental and emotional state when it happens. If i'm actively suicidal and you continuously encourage me to do it, and that encouragement pushes me over the edge, yes, you would likely get charged with something. As you should.

Negligent homicide isnt a crime of violence or sex offense - parole eligible after 25% , good time eligible after 35%, can earn extra time off through CTRP programs.

He will probably do 6 months

I think the real issue is not a war on frats as it is cover LSU's arse.

I hate fraternities with a passion and think they are a huge waste, but I will defend them to the hilt in this case. I do not think personal responsibility on the part of Max should be excused because of activities in which he participated in to be in a private social club. As dumb as frats are, they are voluntary and he could have not participated.

Max's parents are complete deniers in this situation. He was not some innocent boy who was forced against his will by the big bad frat boys. He was a willing participant in something that went terribly wrong for him that night. But he made a choice to be there and do it also.

How was Naquin the only person charged? Was he the orchestrator of the "Bible Study" or the person forcing Gruber to chug?

Not that I think they should be at all, just confusing to see it all laid at the feet of one guy.

Good god this is horrible. Gruver alone was responsible for his own death. Same as Ben Wynn.

Kip Gullet was a tragedy. These two bozos should have known better.

If this Max guy had gotten into a vehicle and died from a car crash no one would be blaming the other people. Instead The Gruber guy got high and drank enough to choke on his own vomit. How is one not other people’s fault but the second is?

As a matter of fact yes. If peer pressure is enough of a reason to absolve an 18 year old for their actions then this country needs to raise the drinking age, voting age, age of consent, ability to serve in the military etc. 18 year olds shouldn’t have the rights that come with being an adult if they don’t assume the responsibilities as well

2.5years was suspended and if he does the community service speaking to schools and write the letter to the parents he can get it down to 7 months.

But he has an obstruction of justice charge coming down soon to for not turning over his phone.

frick that guy. He’s a douche.

I thought they had witness accounts of Wynn having his mouth held open and liqour poured down it at Murphy's.

Then the whole, he was dead for a while at the sae house before anyone did something.

I know I am late to this party but I JUST realized Naquin's lawyer is also Blain Salamoni's.
