I loved living in New Orleans, but I would never go back, at least not now or in the future that I can see. Mitch and Latoya have sucked it nearly dry of what it once was. Latoya is icing the cake.

I would live in Metairie over NO if I had to move back to the area.

Is there anyone with a modicum of intelligence who has expressed an interest in running for mayor? Honestly, who would really want to step into this mess?

It's so sad to watch this city go down in smoke more than it already was. Breaks my heart.

Bagneris had potential I thought. He barely got double digit support though. NOLA was ready to crown a Queen for mayor.

like how does that work... they cut check to city? seems like never going to happen

Yes. And then the city will evenly distribute the payment to all affected businesses, and everything will go back to perfectly normal just like that

The hurt goes beyond Latoya, but she is not doing a damned thing to help NOLA. I've heard rumors that she's trying to commercialize the Quarter; selling it out to large businesses like Disney.

I know a number of friends who have put their homes up for sale and are moving out of Orleans Parish the last 90 days and I have talked to several others who are on the fence but leaning heavily to moving out of the city. The Census couldn't come at a worse time for Orleans Parish and I would not be shocked to see us lose another congressional seat (Richmonds) when the new census results come out.

I'm hearing of several high profile local bankruptcies being prepared right now that when filed will send some shock waves across nationally.

exactly the point. How could it get any better than being able to enjoy all the benefits of New Orleans while not having to be completely subject to their inept leadership? JP surrounds Nola on the east and West Bank. You can live 5-10 minutes away from the CBD/Warehouse District/FQ/Uptown by being in Metairie or Gretna and not have to live under Destroya’s rule

I understand that and I live in Old Metairie. But, if she destroys Orleans then that is a hit to JP as well because those areas are still utilizing much of New Orleans. At least I am. My office is in the CBD, I ride in New Orleans parades, I eat in New Orleans restaurants, I go to festivals in New Orleans, etc. Even as someone who left Orleans for Old Metairie I still care she is destroying the city in which is a major reason most live in the surrounding areas in JP.

I'll bet anything she has zero chance.

The telltale sign will be how many establishment black candidates see an opportunity and announce against her. If it's just another Forman or Couhig type the vote will be racial and she'll win.

Wife and I have already discussed that if she is re-elected, we will start the process of moving to JP.

Yep...the property value agrees. There is nice little 2,200 brick slab going for 800k at the moment on not even a nice street in old metairie.

Latoya has helped a real estate boom here.

If you are going to make the move you better make it now because home prices in Orleans are going implode five months from now.

Socialists always claim to represent the common people, but will eventually tighten their grip on power, starve their constituency, and blame it on a war with a government with different political leanings.

It doesn’t matter if it’s NOLA, Cuba, or North Korea. In the end the people suffer, their rulers get drunk with power, and the US government is to blame.

This is basically how it goes down in 1984 too. It’s always Eurasias fault and then when it isn’t it’s Eastasias fault.

I have to agree with this. 6 months ago, if you questioned Dear Leader's edicts, the twitter mob would be all over you. Look through her twitter now. She gets hammered and very few are coming to knight for her.

No fricking way... It's bad enough that I have to work in New Orleans, but I usually will try to keep 99% of my sales tax dollars in JP...

The more important question is who would want to run against her? You are going to be inheriting an even more bankrupt city, businesses and residents who have left depleting the tax base, crumbling infrastructure, and god knows what other problems we dont even know about?

Its not "anyone with a pulse will beat her" its "who can we dupe to taking over this mess"
