Apparently his band still came out and opened for Alabama.
They did. We were there and his band did a good job in an awkward situation (their words).
Alabama is obviously a shell of itself, and Randy Owen is….old. And sounds bad. But his effort was there and he was having a good time.

Ol' Country came to town?

I wish they would have shut it down after Jeff Cook (R.I.P.) had to stop performing due to his advancing Parkinson's.

My personal favorite song of his. That piano opening the song and the lyrics are great.
"City sun goes down at night, makin' way for neon lights, country boy is looking... at the moooooooooon..."

Alabama still tours?

Would rather see Mississippi at this juncture.

Saw him in 2024 for a few songs and it was not good. Hope he gets well soon.

Speaking of hanging on too long, saw some video of last night and Alabama needs to stop. It’s sad to see Randy Owen keep doing this. You gotta know when to walk away
I was there. It sounded great when they played actual music. He walked around stage talking 70% of the time. They would play a song and he would walk off the stage and maybe the bass player that couldn't play bass because he had surgery on his wrist. They maybe played ten songs in an hour and a half. The rest of the time he talked, drug out songs or it was just the band playing alone songs no one knew. There was one point early on in the show where they had a weird 5-7 second voice delay like they were dubbing over his voice and the sound man was frantically turning knobs trying to get rid of. The river center stopped selling 14 dollar beers a quarter of the way into the concert.
We missed what we thought was going to be Mark Chesnut. Apparently it was just his band playing along to his voice recordings.
I have been playing music in a band since i'm 13 year old and things were definitely off. It is time for them to retire. It was not a good overall experience. I felt like i was robbed of that ticket price and the river center was maybe at 1/4 capacity.

My band opened for him around a year ago, and while he was extremely nice and polite, in no way was he at a performance level...don't blame anyone for getting money how they can, but it was a tough watch.

You opened for Alabama? That’s pretty cool, one of my favorite all time groups. Yep, I’ve heard from several it’s time for them to hang it up.

He did and they did the opening. Apparently he's dieing of cirrhosis. They were pretty good but didn't play many songs. Alabama was not great. They had one of the singers just up there rambling the whole time at the crowd. We left early

Mine too! There’s still time to see him live. You won’t regret it

Agree
In my top 10 favorite songs of all time.
Joe Diffie had some great one; Ships that don’t come in, So help me Girl.
That was a great era of country.

90’s country was incredible

On a total side note...any of you baws at the Choctaw Casino for Travis Tritt? 90s country is not my style. I like early 80s and red dirt.

Saw Chesnutt, Joe Diffie, and Tracy Lawrence together at a county fair years ago. Good show.
I saw this trio at the Neshoba County Indian Fair in the early 2000’s. It was a great show.
