Dude, stay away grom all those "nice" neighborhoods, they are all section 8, you should just go to N.O. East

I am going to break this down as simple as possible:

If you took the top 50 students at Mandeville High, Covington High, St Paul’s/SSA, and Fontainebleau they would all be extremely close. It just comes down to what you value and prioritize more as a parent for your child. Any argument of one school being significantly better is trivial and tribal.

Mandeville has more “persnickety” people by volume, which along with them being mostly new money, is why it gets the lazy stereotype from people who have never lived here.
However, if you did the same exercise as above, the top 1% of wealthy in Covington are in their own stratosphere in terms of being “persnickety” vs. Mandeville.

1) this is debatable
2) it’s not a good point

ETA- private school is for creating better peer groups

Black children!! Oh No!!

Yes. In Covington public schools, as in life, you will have to associate and learn with all walks of life and different races. You will be among future Captains of Industry, Garbage Men, National Honor Scholars, Retail emloyees, Doctors, Mechanics, Criminals, and Geniuses. You will be raised in THE community, not YOUR community.

People like you are the reason the Northshore gets the reputation it does. What an idiotic, coddled, and privileged thing to say.

If that is what you need to tell yourself to justify your expense, then so be it.

The only justification is that you want them to learn the Jesus fairytale.

This is 10000000% true. It's not debatable, especially in Louisiana.

Pitcher is a shite school and doesn’t prepare students nearly as well as other public schools around the area.

This is complete bullshite. Kids went from Pitcher to Catholic high school and didn't miss a beat. At least 5 years ago there were some great teachers who engaged their students.

This is the case if you live in Mandeville or Covington's school district, not Madisonville. Where was I wrong considering Hannan is still in Covington?

Because the elementary and middle schools are good. Depending on where you live in Covington, wouldn’t need to go to private school until high school. And if we are being honest, Covington High isnt some bottom of the barrel school like youd find in BR. Its just not ranked “as highly” as the other high schools in St Tammany.
